Hi all,

I am a high school student in the UK and I was wondering whether I would qualify for the National Merit Scholarship, if I were to get it? I have no right to citizenship in the United States.

Furthermore, is the PSAT useful for a college application for an international student? Would it enhance my college application at all, or not? I will obviously be taking the SAT, A levels and GCSEs.

The PSAT is “Preliminary”. It scopes out what candidates might perform well on the SAT but also acts as a screen for national merit participants. It is for US citizens and permanent residents. http://www.nationalmerit.org/nmsp.php

Thanks for that! I found out that the NMS is not for international students and therefore, is there no need for me to do the PSAT/NMSQT? Or is there a good reason why I should?

It would be for your own information.

Ah, thanks got it!
