I'm a junior and I just got my PSAT score. Apparently, I got in the 99th percentile and qualify for national merit. What do I do from here?

Did you get your scores from school or in the mail?

I would also like to know :)

There's really nothing you have to do until September or so. That's when you find out if you're Commended (200+, usually) or a Semifinalist (varies by state). If the latter, there's an application you and your counselor have to fill out and an essay you have to write to qualify to be a Finalist. And THEN you're in the running for scholarships.

Hope any of that helped.

Yeah...99th percentile doesn't necessarily equate to semifinalist status (it's actually 99.5th percentile or something) but you should be able to make a fairly decent guess by looking at your state's past cutoffs. Either way, nothing really happens until next fall.

As others have said...just wait.
In September (yes, next fall) your school will tell you if you have made Semifinalist (though, as others have said, you can likely guess) and at the time they will tell you how to apply for Finalist. Good luck!

Does anyone know where to find states' past cutoffs? I've only seen my score so far, without anything to say whether I qualify or not. I'm pretty sure I don't stand a chance with a 211, but Indiana isn't known for its splendid test scores. ;)

i got my test scores today, but i did really bad.. and i got my test scores from the school.

Here you are, sir:

Indiana cutoff = 213

Sucks for me, Massachusetts = 225, lol.

I'm a ma'am, but thanks all the same. Doesn't look all that great for me, but yeah, you east coasters have it hard, even if you do bring it upon yourselves. :)

I'd also like to second the in-school-or-mail question. Especially since I wrote the wrong address down on my form and would really like to know what I got.

I want my freggin PSATs.... We've been waiting for like 3 months, and no scores yet! WT heck!

Damn...if it's the same as last year in NY, I missed it by 3 points.
