PSU Class of 2018 Admission Decision Thread

@RyanCollegeBound Depends on who you’re trying to email and what you’re emailing about. You could just wait till Tuesday to call as they don’t reply to emails on non-business days.

@TTBxsci I emailed them concerning change of a major to have a better chance of getting into into UP. email address I used was admissions@pus.edu

@Ryan I’m in the same boat. I am willing to change my major to DUS to get accepted. My picture changed to Brandywine Friday.

Should I wait till Tuesdsay - when I get rejected to call/email them or should I just do it now?

Also when you get rejected do they tell you that if you change your major to DUS you’ll be accepted to summer or do you have to call and risk everything?

Background: Commputer Science Major
Applied to UP and second choce 2 + 2.

@vibsO I didn’t get rejected as yet. My status still says “we are reviewing your credentials a decision will be available as soon as one is made”. I emailed them so instead of reviewing my application twice they can review it and give me options to maybe get into UP. And change it before my application is reviewed.

Also does anyone know if undergraduate admissions office will be open tomorrow. Because there is nothing on the website stating closures

FYI: classes are not in session, but faculty and staff work monday. It is possible admissions (as a unit) decided to close to attend MLK programs though. This seems unlikely

@RyanCollegeBound
Hope you meant psu and not pus because the correct email address is admissions@psu.edu

I think it would be better to wait for an official decision before seeking reconsideration. Without an official decision, you can’t know if asking for a change early is going to have a significant effect.

Just so everyone knows, admissions is updating statuses over the weekend. I have twins and have been obsessively checking their statuses which both changed to “coming days” in the past three hours (after checking it at least twice since 8am).

@lovetosleep, I am shocked. I really didnt think anything would change on Sunday. I’m glad to hear it though. My son is waiting to hear his decision as his status changed to coming days on Friday afternoon. Maybe he will know today or tomorrow. His picture stayed at UP so I thought he would at least get into summer but I just read that someone’s picture did not change and they were rejected. Very anxious now.

I think the system is automated.

I’ve been using Twitter as a gage for updates and some decisions went out this morning as well. I just haven’t been able to determine a pattern (in state, out of state, college applied to, branch, last name) - no rhyme or reason. I wish they would just update the Friday ones already - this is maddening!

As for the photo not changing, being in IT my opinion is that piece should be more straight forward and if the photo didn’t change accordingly it could be a web browsing issue. Can’t be sure though.

Fingers crossed. All you Friday statuses, please let me know when you hear something. I’m not checking my D’s status, so she can know first but it’s driving me nuts!

I will let you know for sure

My son’s status changed on Wednesday to the coming days with a picture of Harrisburg, his second choice. Have yet to hear anything else. The waiting is terrible!! Especially when others are so quick :(

My sons status has been “we are reviewing credentials…” since his app was complete September 15. No change in picture or wording since.

@Penn4Son - Since Weds?! Argh! Well at least you know it can’t be much longer. Although we know kids can find out sooner, 1-3biz days is the standard line and you’re almost there! What college did he apply to?

@psumamasita, when do you think people whose status changed friday will hear?

@eagles I wish I knew. I’ve seen kids whose status changed on Thursday receive their decision Saturday AM so I thought we would hear today! :(

We could hear at 12:15 am or 7:00. Am possibly. Is there somewhere where it says win how many days will we find out after we get the “coming days”. Also, I did not apply to an alternate campus. I applied directly to summer and my picture is still university park?

On the PSU Admissions blog they state 1-3 biz days. If you click on the Twitter icon at the top of the MyPennState login screen, there is a tweet: “The most common question we hear these days: “When will I get my decision?” We answer that here: ow.ly/sr4AO”
