PSU Class of 2018 Admission Decision Thread

Mine just changed to upcoming days…pic of UP didn’t. Is this good bad or neither?

Obviously with some of these accepted scores! Ugh!

@lazy
As long as you graduate you are good i’ve heard but i’ve also heard that more than 1 d is cause for concern.

Aim for c’s  that’s my plan.

Accepted - College of IST
Stats:
SAT: 1800 (640 m, 620 cr, 540 w)
GPA: 3.45 UW

I got in starting in the Summer, which is what I applied for (I REALLY wanted to get in). The notice for my “decision in the coming days” was posted on Friday at about 9:00 PM or so, and I heard today at around 6. I’m so happy!! This was my top choice and I can’t wait to get started! WE ARE!

The picture changes are not that reliable. Your picture may stay on UP but it does not mean you are accepted. If you applied to fall and summer and it stays on UP, and your stats are relatively good, you probably were accepted. If you have borderline stats and it stays on UP and you didn’t choose an alternate or summer, you might have been rejected. If you are rejected, the picture will not change until the status updates to rejected. The picture change is reliable if it changes to your alternate, in which case you are most likely being accepted to the alternate.

@lazystudent006 Let me step up on my soapbox for a second. You are obviously very intelligent, but I knew people in college who were intelligent yet flunked out. They were also “lazy” and thought they would turn it on at some point and start working, but it never happened. Today’s world is very different and you need a degree and solid grades. Sounds like you have the PRIVILEGE to be able to go college and to a great school like PSU. Get your butt in gear and start learning how to work. No one will hire someone or respect someone who is lazy. I myself wasn’t always the hardest worker either, so I speak from experience. Things are much more competitive than in my day. So get to work. Stepping down. Good luck. Work hard.

Has anyone gotten into the College of Health and Human Development yet? I submitted my app in October and mine still says “We are reviewing your credentials”. Im getting worried, my stats are low (well, compared to all of these engineering majors, lol), but i applied for summer session, as well as a branch campus

So happy for everyone who got what they hoped for.

As for those who are unhappy about the alternate branches, although I didn’t take my D to visit Altoona yet, we did list it as her alternate branch because of the many great things I heard about it. My former PSU roomates and various friends all went to Altoona together and developed life long friendships. I know kids recently who after 2 years chose to stay at Altoona. Its close to Main, has on campus housing and is large enough to feel like a big college. I went to Brandywine 20 years ago, which felt like high school more than likely because I commuted, but they have expanded the branch and if you aren’t from the area and have housing it can be a great experience. You’re close to Philly, the Jersey beaches, only a couple of hours from NYC and DC and there’s just a lot of great towns.

Just my two cents.

Best of luck everyone.

We’ll said sedlan. That applies to those who drop from As to low Bs or Cs
Besides you never know when someone will ask you for your HS transcript when you apply for a position as a freshman or sophomore. I have rejected a few students whose grades dropped in their senior year. It just says something about you.
Like the old saying goes : anyone can be honest when people are watching but ones true character comes out when they feel no one is watching
People want to hire/accept others who do their very best always

Yeah I feel you guys. Was just kinda hard to take high school seriously. I’m glad my first semester grades are low. It forces me to get high b’s in some of

My niece loved Altoona so much, she stayed for a 4 years instead of going to UP in the 2 + 2 program. She graduated in May.

@eaglesfan116. My son (accepted DUS Summer) had about a 3.3 gpa and 1850 SAT (730 math). We figured summer was his best shot.

Accepted to Smeal!
Age:18
GPA: 3.8
SAT: 1790
I’ve taken AP/Honor classes
Top 30%
Executive Board of Student Council, Peer Leader Activity Club Executive Board.

Varsity Golf & Ski Club
200 volunteering hours at a local hospital

My daughter is a junior at UP, but went to Altoona for 2 years. Not only did she love it, but she got great grades and a core group of friends that she lives with at UP. She kept her dream alive of being a PSU cheerleader, tried out in the spring while at Altoona and made it. Altoona is almost an extension of UP, students are up there every weekend, the best of both worlds. Her experience has been just as great as anyone starting at UP. So for those who are sad to get in to Altoona, please give it a chance and respect!

I applied to UP as my top campus choice and York as my alternative. I got my “coming days” status couple hours ago and the picture stayed at UP. Could this be good or bad? Since I have an alternative but the picture is still at UP

@RyanCollegeBound - These last few days we have heard things go both ways. Some pictures have stayed at UP only to change at the last minute, but from what I’ve seen, it is hopeful that your picture stayed. It seems to me that the “norm” is for the picture to change if you chose a backup and that is where you will be accepted to and to stay at UP if you will get accepted there. That is what happened for my son and many others. Some have kept the UP but got rejected, but those mostly seem to have not chosen a backup. While nothing is sure in this crazy process, if your stats are good enough to make you think you could get UP, they are likely easily good enough to get the branch campus, so as my son was similar, I felt pretty hopeful that he would get UP when the picture stayed there even though he was borderline and I think the same would go for you. I know I was worrying that sometime in the middle the picture would change as I’m sure you will be too. Good luck and I hope you make it and they don’t make you wait too long.

My other daughter just got accepted for UP Summer Session, College of Health and Human Developement. Her status changed Friday night to “coming days”, she found out tonight around 6, and Altoona was her alternate. Her picture never changed from UP. Good Luck and hang in there!

@psumom3 if you don’t mind me asking, what were her stats? I also applied for HHD summer session

My daughter unfortunately cannot go to a branch college because architecture is not offered anywhere except main and it is only offered in the fall of each year. All of you who have a choice of a branch college, be happy. Not an option here.

@wheres95. Did you get accepted to UP? My son was accepted to his alternate choice but his SAT’s were higher than yours and his GPA was the same. I don’t get it.
