got my new, “reconsidered” decision - no way to go DUS at UP, and i can only do PSU if i did the 2+2. they said if i want that, i’m automatically in, but that was exactly what i didn’t want. bummer.

Bummer, @hopmayer! Which schools are you still considering at this point?

@twinmom2014 that’s what i’m trying to believe. just a bummer but hoping for things to come along soon!

@longwait7 notified me by email, pretty lengthy, too, which shows me they really did see my enthusiasm about the school in two emails and a phone call to admissions… an excerpt: “Your enthusiasm and persistence is clear to me, however [ . . . ] This year is a very competitive year at Penn State, with applications up by almost 20%. In light of that, many strong students are not receiving offers for the first choice campus. In truth, your application gave our admissions office a long and hard debate, and I know it is unfortunate that you have fallen into such a grey area because of this applicant increase. If you are still interested in pursuing journalism at Penn State, you are guaranteed admission with the decision to startat one of our 19 Commonwealth campuses and spending two years there before transitioning to University Park to complete your degree. If you have further questions about your options, please don’t hesitate to contact us.”

@LucieTheLakie i’ve gotten in to High Point, which although my safety, they’ve invited me to interview for a full ride which gave them a little more appeal! i know it’s a country club, but their communications programs are actually notable, and it’s something to consider. i was deferred EA from fordham, and i’m waiting to hear from marist, emerson, BU, american, GWU, and U Florida!

to be honest, the ONLY thing, now hours and days into this journey of reconsideration, that is frustrating to me is seeing both in-state and OOS students with lower stats than me get not only in to the college of communications, but get the undeclared + UP option. that’s what’s still bugging me like crazy…

Accepted to DUS Fall after being rejected from Smeal!!! I’m so excited!

@hopmeyer…at least you gave it your best and did not have to wonder what would have been. Those are great qualities. One of my daughter’s applied to BU…hopefully I will see you on the accepted student thread when that pops up…by the way is your dad E.H? :-*

@twinmom2014 nope, not EH! :-??

@hopmeyer I think E.H is kinda cute…but I am a middle aged broad, so what do I know.

@twinmom2014 i have no idea who EH is!!

@hopmeyer Ed Harding…news reporter out near Boston.

@twinmom2014 ah got it now!

@hopmayer, thank you very much for letting me know. Wish you the best future!
