If you applied before november 30 you should hear by the end of january. Did you check off summer option, or an alternate campus? @cylovingpsu
@avery76 a few days, up to about a week
I did check off summer option hopefully can get in!!
Did you take AP and Honor courses and what about your EC’s?
I know it will happen with the next 7 days, but seriously…
So hard to see disappointment in son’s eyes every morning, knowing that another day without an answer looks worse and worse.
@Beangreene That’s just not true! There are people accepted every single year ON January 31st! Timing means nothing. I mean that…nothing whatsoever. My daughter was accepted two years ago on January 26 after having had her application complete the first week of September. The waiting is difficult, but believe me when I say, the timing of notification indicates absolutely nothing. GPA and test scores are what matter. That’s it.
My daughter, whose application was submitted about 2 days after it was released, JUST HEARD 3 days ago on Saturday morning. Others at her school whose applications did not go in until November heard a month ago. No pattern based on alphabet, school applied to, or stats - it is COMPLETELY random. My girl had 650 R, 670 M (new SAT), 3.75 weighted, 2 very time-consuming activities, and I assume good recommendations. She has been fretting for over a month, but good news, so don’t lose hope - good luck to all still waiting.
I have that same feeling @Beangreene it seems like they are making decisions about students who are perhaps borderline (like my son 3.5 GPA, all honors, 10 AP classes ACT 31, SAT M 690, SAT R 700 applied premed) and waiting to decide at the last minute. However I appreciate your words of wisdom @jlhpsu & @MHC86 it continues to give me hope!
Chances?
GPA: 3.72UW
SAT 1350/1600(New)- 720 Math 630 R+W
Class Rank 16/102
Major: Engineering(Undecided)
EC: Two sport varsity athlete, team captain, and many awards from athletics. Also have volunteer hours and job experience
Summer Session: Yes
My school doesn’t offer many AP courses(especially for math and science) but I took one AP course and the highest level math and science courses my school offers
^do you have precalculus honors or calculus, and all three from bio, chem, physics?
I took calculus, physics, chem, and bio
@miamigrad, Those stats are NOT borderline. A 3.5 GPA, 1390 SAT and 31 ACT is excellent. I would be shocked if your son didn’t get in to PSU/UP.
What major?
Don’t sell yourself short, I’d bet there is an 80% chance of acceptance
@bma5435, listen we are just speculating here and using educated guesses based on historical data. So…with that disclaimer I think you’re in as well
@beangreene, Applied on Sept 10th and didn’t hear till Jan 11th-I feel your pain. Then I went back into waiting by asking for Fall consideration after being accepted for summer. So I must be a masochist. Hang in there, no news is good news
@Oneiota Thank you for your comment! He applied Eberly Science premed. Have you heard back?
My daughter applied first of October and received a congratulations on her portal Saturday morning. Her sats on the new scale are 1250, and gpa uw 3.5, weighted 3.99. She has taken 7 ap classes and 4 honor classes. After reading all
Of the stats here I was not sure she would get in!! We both are thrilled!! So keep your chin up!!!
@Miamigrad, nope still waiting on whether I have fall or not. Scored a 1430/1600 on SAT w/WGPA of 3.4 so I think I have a good shot for Fall. If not then I go summer, no worries.
Good Luck
How would I go about asking to be reconsidered for main campus if already accepted? I was accepted to PSB but I really want to go to UP. I’m willing to do summer session.
@EngineerWannaB7 what are your stats and what major did you apply for?
