Denied from smeal with a weighed 3.75 and a 1270/1600 (old sat, 700M 570CR) VP of stock market club and many other EC. Disappointed and pissed off.

Ok, just received acceptance into the fall. I was accepted for Summer/DUS and asked to be reevaluated for Fall and was accepted.
1430/1600 SAT, 3.4 WGPA
Sports, theater, etc…
The money was a factor for me in the summer. I’m out of state so tuition and board is about $45k. Another $8k plus losing out on summer earnings seemed like a lot…anyway very happy. I’m waiting on a couple of other schools as well, Maryland, Syracuse and Colgate(reach). But will most likely be at UP in the fall.
One last thing to those still waiting…I feel your frustration as I applied around Sept 10th and finally today was accepted into the fall. Hang in there, it will soon be over and if you’re accepted you’ll forget this waiting period(at least a little bit)

@jihpsu do you happen to know if you can miss any days of the summer session? My D got in and she is having a very hard time dealing with leaving for the summer now that it’s a reality. Her stats are very fair for summer. Does anyone know of a forum for the PSU summer session (past or present) or other info other than the PSU site that could help her?
Only people with demonstrated financial hardship or extraordinary circumstances are being allowed to switch to fall IF they have the stats as well. " I don’t feel like it" is not going to move a student from summer.
It’s mid-June through early August. Arts Fest,mFourth Fest, beautiful weather. She will be glad to be here, in the end. It’s a good reminder that college involves choices 
S was accepted to Smeal but his second choice…Altoona. Happy but disappointed because he really wanted UP. Does anyone know anything about this campus?
@greenbutton not sure if your comment was directed at my post. If so, may be I was unclear and apologize. She never asked or suggested to switch or said she doesn’t feel like it. I simply asked if there was a forum for more information other than the PSU site about the summer session.
@loulou2 lots of information on PSU website regarding LEAP. Looks like an exceptional program and I have only heard amazing things.
@loulou2 A mother told me that her daughter electively joined LEAP and loved it. She is now a senior and those 25 kids in her pride are still her best friends today.

My son was just accepted to the 2+2 smeal at Altoona. His first choice was UP and he also checked off summer. I know he is not going to want to go to Altoona and it’s further away. Can we still reach out and ask to be reevaluated for UP if he changes his major to DUS?
I really thought he would at least have gotten summer.
He has a 3.8 weighted, 1280 SAT, AP classes, honors classes etc and we are in a very highly ranked high school. He also is extremely busy with sports and work. Those that know the system please let me know if this is possible
@nyann1127 It couldn’t hurt to call admissions, from what i understand switching to DUS is done all the time.
I have a question my daughter was accepted to Smeal Altoona she asked to be re-evaluated for DUS UP for fall or summer. This all happened this morning - did this happen to anyone else and how long did it take to get a decision?
Is it best to call or email admissions to change to DUS to be reconsidered for UP?
Does anyone know of anyone who has asked to change to DUS and then been accepted to UP?
My child is in the same boat. Accepted to 2+2 Smeal/Altoona. What are the chances of him admitted to UP from Altoona if requested? I thought at least he would get summer session 
It’s a NO to Smeal at University Park, but a yes for 2 +2. , OOS, 30 ACT, 3.7W. Just called and switched major to Advertising in Communications and should hear now in less than a week. She can transfer to Smeal sophmore year no problem.
