Accepted to PSU Smeal College of business (finance) this morning!!! SAT: 1230 and weighted GPA: 3.75
@MSMead That is a great math score! Higher than my D’s. She is a Jr Engineering major at PSU. They do put more weight on GPA. She was a 4.0, but still with that math score he surely is in the “bubble.”
Has anyone gotten rejected yet? I still haven’t received any news and i’m getting worried

@Gnle125 i stay up till 12am every night for the past month checking the portal with a bit of hope but always see no decision. It is very disappointing
@julietxn I know it’s so devastating. At this point I just want an answer this decision has caused me so much stress that I just want to know regardless the outcome.
I just got accepted into the University Park campus (college of liberal arts) and no summer session requirement. I had like a 3.5 weighted gpa and 1250 sat score. My extra curricular activities were pretty strong though. I didn’t think I would be accepted without the requirement of summer session, so there is hope !
Hang in there. My daughter heard on the last day last year- I believe January 30th. Hoping good news is coming your way very soon.
He had a personal statement. Wanted to be an engineer since he was 4 etc. Maybe it wasn’t good enough.
AP Physics, AP Calculus , AP Computer Science, Tons of honors in prior years. It goes to show that we never know. He is a B student in English and History. Solid “A” student in all math and science. No summer selection. He won’t apply to DUS because he absolutely wants ME from the get go. He will probably get in 2+2 but wants to go to a school that wants him upfront. Its a downer.
I thought Penn State was just GPA and SAT but he only had a few extracurriculars. He worked a job 12 hours a week and had 1 activity that was 6 hours a week. I guess that could be why he didn’t get in. Can’t think of anything else. But, I did hear that they only take so many students from a particular high school.

14 college credits (engineering and calculus) 14 AP’s every other course honors
Insane amount of extracurriculars, nationally ranked ski racer and field hockey goalie, 4 jobs, engineering internship, lots of volunteering
Recommendations were amazing
Essay was moderate to good

@MSMead University Park is just numbers. They get over 80,000 applications. No time for looking at the subjective things. The only time these are considered is at Commonwealth campuses.
