When do you guys think summer will hear back?
If you applied by Nov 30th, you will hear back by Jan 31st, even for summer.
@MYOS1634 I did tell him if he is accepted to the Altoona campus yes to then reach out and ask to be switched to Erie. I actually asked him today after I’d already spoken with you through here was it his dad who convinced him to select Altoona. He said no. He said he was just going by the names. Somehow I don’t think I believe him since my husband keeps telling me about his one cousin who started off at Altoona.
Oh trust me in no way would the accelerated program nor the honors program be the right fit for him. He has a lot of different issues which he also used in his essays to prove that he has fight determination and perseverance… But to go into an accelerated program as a freshman or into the honors program as a first time college student… That would not be the right fit for him. And trust me if he gets into his first choice University Park that’s where he would be staying because that’s his first choice and the reason why he wants to attend there is because he wants to experience what a big sports oriented school spirit type of campus is. He did not get that at his previous high school where he was through 11th grade. It was a tiny school that only had 450 students for grades seven through 12. And now as a senior at a school that is like that… School grades nine through 12 with over 4000 students… As a senior being new to the school without his friends there he’s just not into getting involved in it that way.
You sure have a lot of wonderful helpful information. May I ask you how you know about all of this information that you are providing?
@MYOS1634 Oh by the way infectious diseases would not be the right department for him. Not at this point. However three years ago that actually was his interest. But he now wants to go into ophthalmology.
^ basically, knowing college information is what I do
I accepted my offer of admission and also changed from a fall start to a summer start. Can’t wait to get out of Florida and freeze my butt off in Pennsylvania .
can’t log into my mypennstate account, I think the site is down? anyone else?
same – nothing like adding more anxiety to this process – would be nice to get some sleep
@BurghMom3 I see we were all up looking about the same time. Just looked and now I am getting error codes.
same for us
Still down 6:36 am. We can only hope they downloaded so many acceptances the site crashed!
Was able to login just now. No decision yet. Same message as last 3 months.
Mine says that my info cannot be retrieved, logout and try later.
I’m still getting the error. I’ve been through roughly 35 applications over the last several years with my kids. PSU has the worst record among them for website outages. So frustrating. I get there’s a load on their systems during this time, but this is not their first rodeo.
My application is finally under review. My grades are right at the middle 50%, so I’m expecting to be accepted into summer. Thinking this means summer session acceptances will be out sometime this week.
Sunday and Monday I attended the For the Glory program. I know some people were wondering about the mystery of being selected, so I thought I would just post what I learned to help those in the future. Each College is allowed to invite 14 students. They actually send out a few more invitations because they know not everyone will come, so it is possible you could get an invitation, but if you wait too long to RSVP, the 14 spots could be filled. Those 14 they deem “high achievers” and I think a big part of this is people they really want and they believe are very likely to accept - which I think means have some real demonstrated interest in both their particular college AND they believe are really serious about Penn State. It seems like everyone had already been in contact with their particular College along the way and had asked a lot of questions about their intended program of study, etc. - in other words, those within the College knew they were serious and the kids were on their radar. Some of the kids I met had already accepted their offers, others told me PSU was their number one choice but were waiting on financial aid package, they had visited the campus several times, had parents who were alums, etc. It was definitely a split of in state and out of state kids and several kids had travelled all the way across the country to attend. I’m posting this so that if you DIDN’T get invited and are wondering why, you know it really was a very tiny group and I certainly don’t think it was the 14 in each College who had the absolute highest GPA and SAT scores. My guess is anyone they view as applying to PSU as a “safety school” with no real intention of going would not have been invited.
Ugh still can’t get on the website
Site will eventually come up but when it does, you get the page of endless errors
