PSU Class of 2022 Decision Thread

My daughter was accepted to Graphic Design at University Park yesterday (1/27). She applied on 10/15, and has GPA=3.89 and ACT=27

When does Millennium and Honors results come out?

^ Try Googling it – both of those programs have websites that should have a deadline / timeline section.

So here is an update and I am so embarrassed… Originally I had told you guys that my son (and remember we live in Southern California and he is a total metropolitan city kid ) had not only of course put down his dream choice University Park, but that he had put down a branch campus. I incorrectly have been thinking and therefore incorrectly posted that that branch campus was Altoona. No no no.
The satellite campus he had put down was Abington. And that’s why I was saying he had put down the branch campus that was near Philadelphia to which somebody corrected me and said it’s not that close to Philadelphia because by mistake I had written and have been thinking he put down Altoona.
So to recap he got an acceptance letter yesterday for the Fayette campus for Premed. After doing tons of research no way in the world will we have him going to that campus. It is a commuter school. In the middle of only a rural environment. There is no on-campus housing, and it has no easy access to transportation to get anywhere outside of that town. The campus itself only has 700 students and the town only has around 800 people. This in no way would be the type of place that my city thriving kid would be successful at. As a result I have just sent an email to admissions asking them and giving reasons if they could please transfer him instead to either the Abington ( which he had originally put down as a second choice,), Altoona or Erie campus if he cannot get into his dream University Park. I told them that any of the other campuses would not be even reasonable for a kid coming from Southern California. In addition I will also be trying to call the school either tomorrow or Tuesday to follow up.

I called Admissions for my D’ on Friday and they assured me we would hear about an admissions decision within 24 hours. But the portal still says, Your application has been updated. Please check back soon for a status update." Do you think we should call again on Monday or just wait it out? It has the Old Main picture on it.

@CollegeParents9 – Decisions should be in by Wednesday/Thursday. They continue to roll in on a daily basis so you could have it tomorrow/Tues/Wed/Thurs…We have had completed application in for close to 4 months. The “rolling” admission process is 100% random – they have accepted people who got their application at the very end of the application period.

@CollegeParents9 How Long did it take on Friday when you called admissions to get a human voice? As I wrote in my yes very long comment above yours, I will be calling tomorrow or Tuesday to find out if he can be switched to another campus because there is no way a city boy from Southern California can go to the campus that they placed him at that has no on-campus housing and no ability to have transportation. So I need to speak with somebody in case they don’t see my email

My guidance counselor told us tons of decisions will come THIS week, hang in there. It is random. It is hard not to take the wait personally I get it! My sister said Happy Valley is the best time ever but the rigor of the academics is definitely tough.Lots of her friends took it lightly and are in bad shape GPA wise after one semester. She said her advisor is awesome and there are lots of walk in hours for advisors if you cannot get an appointment quickly.

Good luck everyone. WE ARE!

thank you!

It took me no more than 15 - 20 minutes on hold. They were very nice!

Where are you from in SoCal? We are in Laguna Beach!

@Lock321 , we were told by PSU that for nursing they just make a cold hard line in the sand around the 3.9 WGPA mark. Nursing has bragging rights for having the highest GPA of its entering class of any major/college at UP. I’ve heard they make a few exceptions, like if you are already a CNA or were accomplished in HOSA. So mega congrats to you! It’s a huge accomplishment.

Accepted into 2+2 program for mechanical engineering…wasn’t really planning to attend PSU but decision is still disappointing.

ACT: 31 (33 Superscore)
Top 20% OOS
Good Essay and ECs or so I thought

How does a campus change work? Accepted into up but would rather start 2+2?

does anyone know if i can still apply to the honors college?

Call admissions to ask about a campus change.

Schreyer apps closed in early January. It may be possible to get in later through the gateway: https://www.shc.psu.edu/admissions/apply/gateway.cfm
