PSU Class of 2022 Decision Thread

Was just waitlisted at 4:00 for nursing

@kaelen So sorry to heat you were wait listed. I am thinking that is gonna happen to my daughter as well. I am amazed that they released more results

If it helps I had a 3.8 UW gpa and 1200 sat class rank 18/240 for the previous year @ccs0623

I just wanted to ask, if anyone knows, how likely it is to get accepted into the summer admissions for Penn State?
I was originally accepted into the 2+2 plan, but I preferred to start at PSU at UP. I didn’t originally state that I wanted to be considered for the summer term, so we called and they said that they must review it again for a couple of weeks.
I would just like to know my chances!
I’m currently an IB student as well as taking AP classes and my SAT score is a 1310 and ACT is a 29, GPA is a 3.85 and my intended major is forensic science.

Hello. Daughter was accepted but did not get the right major. What is the best way to contact the admissions office. She has sent a few emails and have received no response. Anyone has had luck contacting their office.

@kaelen Thanks my daughter’s stats are basically the same except her school does not rank. I am a firm believer that she will be admitted to a school where she will succeed. So if she does not get in it was not meant to be. She wants a big a school but I think she would do better at a medium size school.

@2kids$$ PSU doesn’t make you list a branch as back up. They ask if you want to list one, but it isn’t required. Same with summer. I selected that I would go in summer because PSU UP was my first chance and I would have taken any opportunity offered, but didn’t list a branch as back up because I wouldn’t have accepted that (out of state, and not what I wanted).

Another kid at my same OOO high school applied to Smeal and got rejected. He had higher GPA than I do. I think he got rejected to UP because that is such a competitive major, not because you live near a branch campus.

@Collegedad33 - URI Nursing is not a safety for anyone. Neither is their Pharm program.

I’ve been following this for awhile. S accepted to School of Earth Science for Meteorology!
3.6 UW, 28 ACT
Marching band, key club, leadership
Good recs!
Congrats to everyone!

I always wondered about it being unweighted. That would mean 25% of the incoming class was between 3.98 and 4.0. I know there are a lot of smart kids, but that’s really high!

Still nothing on portal. Have been under review since early December. The pressure is crazy.

If they’re waitlisting for nursing, does that mean the program is already full?

I am an out of state parent. I just want to say that after my D was accepted and attended PSU a waive of applicants followed her, including her cousin. PSU was never on anyone’s radar before. The only kid from our district that was accepted into Main directly was my D. A’s in every class and she took all the AP’s that were available. Everyone else was branched. I know because I answered a lot of questions from parents about the meaning of the 2+2. They honestly did not understand that their kid was not accepted directly to “THE” Penn State. So its really not true that they don’t branch the out of state kids. Trust me, they do. They were not even offered summer. D is an engineering major- FYI. She graduates in May…with a great , high paying job! Yeah me!!!

My application just switched to under review this morning at 12am…

@PAHoosier - Yes there are a lot of kids who can do that. My D was one of them. I always said she was a 4.0 student, never bothered knowing her weighted average because it sounded unreal and ridiculous.

@PAHoosier @Twinmom2014 it feels like it is crazy that 25% are basically straight A students… but my kid is also one of those. And yes, her weighted gpa does sound crazy. But she is certainly a better student than I was (!!) and she has worked hard for it.

I hope that I can report back in 4 years that she will be gainfully employed : )

@Collegedad33 Im so surprised your D was accepted at PITT and wait listed at PENN. For my D PITT requested mid year grades and another SAT but Penn Accepted her and invited her to apply to Schryer Honors college. PITT is an awesome school - my daughter loved it. I wish the best to her and you and your wife. You’ve had such a great attitude through this entire difficult process - your daughter is lucky - Best of everything and if in the end your D is accepted to PENN our girls will meet in the program.

It’s not Penn.

@amdg2000 My apologies - I stand corrected - my reference was PENN ST - as in WE ARE PENN STATE…

I applied in early October and was supposed to hear back by today at the latest, but there’s still no update on the website. I applied to their nursing program and my first choice is University Park. I have a 3.8 weighted GPA/3.7 unweighted. SAT score is a 1210. I’m wondering if I haven’t heard back yet because i’m not accepted? I know that other people were accepted weeks ago so I’m confused as to why they still haven’t posted a decision, as it’s says I would know by today.
