PSU Class of 2022 Decision Thread

DS got admitted to EMS - University Park on May 19. I wonder if he was one of the last ones through the door?

He was originally looking as Smeal, and would have had to start at a branch; in fact at the time he was planning to attend another business school. But in early May he had a change of heart and decided to pursue Meteorology. We were both expecting him to start at a branch, but were very surprised that his app was reconsidered and he got admitted to UP at this late date. The only small negative is it was too late to submit any housing preferences, and he’ll likely get put in Supplemental Housing.

P.S. I never pushed him towards Penn State, but now that he’s going it will be fun to have a Lion Jr. in the house!

@oldnit Congratulations! See, it is not over until it’s over! Likely they had less commits after May 1 than expected in that major so there were openings. Some people actually end up loving supplemental housing but even if he doesn’t, most people aren’t there all that long.

Hey guys so this might very well be a dead thread but I applied around may 20th and was literally accepted yesterday (5/31) to University Park college of the liberal arts for political science with what I feel are mediocre stats:

Uw gpa: 3.45
W gpa: 4.3 or somewhere in there
Sat: 1300
Aps: 6 (world, us history, envi. Sci., stats, euro, English 12)
Rank: 36/178

Recs: NA since well you know…
Ecs: jv frisbee, FRC robotics, book club, pro-life, national social studies honors society, literary magazine and competitive singer
Essay: I think it’s strong but I’m biased
Hooks: presented to helped win chairman’s (highest award FIRST can give out) for first time in team history, started a robotics club in Africa
Considerations: very sick my soph./junior year but came back with a 3.85 average senior year

I think I got in bc I told a good story with my application but idk, I feel super honored to be accepted so late with the stats I have and I can’t wait to join the Penn State family!

If anyone comes across my stupid little comment in the future, don’t let timing you from applying, you might be surprised!

@thered_baron12 : make sure to indicate you want to be a Paterno Fellows Aspirant. It’ll allow you to take small classes with Schreyer students and if you do well, join them and graduate as a Schreyer Scholar.
