@TT2018 my son applied by Nov 30 and is still waiting. We checked and were told several weeks back that decision will be available by end of March. That is now behind is but no decision yet!
@yeachelsea Thank you for letting me know! I guess I will just have to call the admission office on Monday then.
@yeachelsea: contact admissions again and ask to talk to your region’s counselor, not the random staff that answers the phone. Explain you applied before Nov 30, were told you’d hear by January 31, then by March, and still nothing. (At this point you would be within your rights to be upset at PSU.)
@Nealthakker I believe international students can hear their decisions anytime between now til mid-April. Maybe check with the admission people to see if they have a more exact date. Good luck!
@MYOS1634 thank you. We are International and the posted expect-by date is April 15. However it is frustrating that it has to take so long.
I called the admission office and they apologized that it has been taking so long and told me decisions should be at the latest given by the beginning of next week.
Best of luck to all who were admitted to PSU and those who are still waiting! While I will not be attending in the fall, I know that PSU is an amazing school and am excited for all those who will have the opportunity to attend.
Finally my decision came.
Accepted to engineering science major. International. No scholarships.
congratulation! I still haven’t gotten my decision haha. If you don’t mind me asking, what were your stats?
@browneyes118 When did you apply and what are your stats?
End of Jan so 30/31 I can’t remember. And my SAT is 1250, idk my gpa cause I attend school in Germany but in my school I have a 8/10 which is considered pretty good here. I am doing the EB (European Baccalaureate) in two languages (English and german). plus I have a lot of advanced courses (chem, bio, philosophy, math). Do I have a chance??
Yes, a 7 on the EB or above means your odds are excellent. The only issue is if your college/major of choice is full.
Hi! I am planning on going to Penn State’s NSO at University Park in June and was booking my tickets. Does anyone know the best way to get to State College? Should I take a connecting flight there or fly to Pittsburgh/Philadelphia and take a bus?
My D and I will be traveling from Phila, to Univ. Park for the NSO in June. By car, 3-4 hours, on Mega Bus, 5 hrs. From Pittsburgh to State College is 3-3.5 hours, by car. Plane tickets on Expedia.com from Phila. to State College are $700.00/person, round trip. Where are you traveling from?
Fly into “SCE” State College Univ. Park, which will have a connection at PHL (Philadelphia, PA) using American Airlines. It is a small airport but nice and then take a Taxi or get the hotel shuttle bus if they have one.
Son accepted to PSU Eng 1340 SAT, 4.25 Weighted, 3.43 UW, Eagle Scout, TSA National Finalist & State Winner
^ at UP? Or Behrend?
Add all honors/accelerated and AP/IB/dual enrollment classes, what M’s your result?
I’m attending UP this fall, I was wondering if anyone could give me a basic run through of the residence halls and which ones undergraduate freshmen usually opt for. If it matters, I’ve been admitted for a Finance major at Smeal.
Find a living learning community (SLO?) as it’ll make it easier to find friends.
East halls is far away, noisy, and looks like a NYC 60s ghetto high rise but for some reason freshmen love it.
Pollock is more centrally located.
North and west have the best dorms, biggest rooms…
@wbw017 There is a thread pinned at the top of the main Penn State forum page that says “let’s talk about housing!”. You will get a lot of answers there…
