Hello all! I'm currently a freshman at PSU-University Park, and after some recent events and realizations, I've decided to look into transferring. It's a very alcohol centered social scene, which I know is prominent in college life, but the fact that every weekend is based on alcohol becomes a stale means of a social setting after only a short while.
I'm majoring in finance (in Smeal), and need a 3.5 to do my major. I currently have a 3.19 and can't forsee a .3 GPA jump, but I'm also very passionate about finance and would prefer not to settle and switch majors.
I started looking at DePaul and I really liked it. It's smack dab in the middle of Chicago, which is a very lively, as well as greatly finance based city. I've been to Chicago a few times and absolutely love it.
-Educational Background:
---End of high school GPA: 4.069/4.5
---SAT: 1210/1870
---ACT: 26
---Extracurricular: Finance Club, Economics Club, Varsity Soccer
So I have some questions:
-Is a transfer from PSU to DePaul for business undergrad a major downgrade? Would I have a good shot at getting into DePaul?
-Is DePaul a reputable school within Chicago? Is it worth the tuition? -Do they have a good alumni network within the city?
Honestly, I really am not fond of how things run at Penn State (academically, as well as the 'party life'), and just want some input as to whether or not DePaul would limit my window of professional opportunity as opposed to if I stayed at Penn State and did a b.s. major. I really do love finance, and if anyone had any insider information (if you will) on DePaul, I would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks for the help!
