accepted to smeal! applied september, got the coming days status on wednesday, and my online account changed today! also got the letter in the mail this afternoon.

what are your stats kerry md?? I’m also waiting on a decision from smeal. congrats!

Hi Likemike26

Congratulations !!

which College did you apply for (engg??) and for UP ? Appreciate your update.

Thank you and good luck

Hi sorry here are my stats:
SAT 1910
UW GPA 3.4 (school doesn’t weight)
School doesn’t rank

I see that everyone had like really high SATS and I don’t know if I have a chance of getting in.
SATS: 1460 (460CR 510M 490W)
GPA: 3.6
I am in like 3 clubs at my school, am treasurer of National Honor Society, have many volunteer experiences, and have been awarded student of the month. I also have two really good teacher recommendations.

With all of that do I have a chance to be accepted into University Park? It’s my top school and I’m just dying to get in.

With Penn State, it mostly depends upon your GPA…2/3 of the decision. Is your 3.6 GPA weighted or unweighted???

Just study more for the SAT and take it again, or try the ACT. You’d be surprised how much you can improve your score.

And your GPA is fine, mine was only like 3.53 unweighted

Likemike26, did you apply undecided or did you choose an intended major

Hi Abeam19:

I second afrojack’s advice. I have seen how much once can improve with SAT/ACT. Just go for some couching help if required. CR score and improvement is really important and exciting.

My 2 cents:; and I am sure you would make it…

Good luck and wish you all success…

Yes, if you are better in science than math, definitely take the ACT

Can anyone give me my chances for UP?

GPA: 3.45 W
SAT: 1780
Swim team, art club, volunteer work, decent PS explaining extenuating circumstances for low gpa.
I’m in-state, applied first week of November for DUS, checked yes for summer start.

Any info is helpful!

getting nervous…applied to smeal mid september with a 3.7 and 1840… high math scores…still no status change, maybe should have gone dus…

@emmaus

I got into Smeal last week with 3.9 gpa and 1830 SAT. you’ll be fine

Decision: Accepted!

Stats:
SAT: 1920 W: 610 M: 650 CR:660
SAT IIs: None
GPA:3.48 (UW) 3.59 (W)
Rank:top 20%
Other stats: AP student (5 on APUSH)
Subjective:
Essays: One personal Statement
Teacher Recs: One
Counselor Rec: One
Hook (if any): Legacy (dad), aunt just won distinguished alum of the year award
Location/Person: Media
State or Country: PA
School Type: Private all-girls
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
Other Factors: Many EC’s, Very rigorous courses, 4 APs

Will my chances be lowered if literally everyone from my school is getting accepted? A handful of my classmates have been accepted and I’m afraid that they won’t need any more people from my school. It’s also annoying because half the these people have no intentions of going there, just applied because it was quick and easy -.-

same with me nervousgal…i really want to go and haven’t heard yet…so many applied and were accepted from my school also with no intention of going! good luck to you!

**Decision: Accepted for Summer 2013 University Park
College of Liberal Arts **

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 1740
[] SAT IIs: –
[] GPA: 3.7 (92%) weighted, my grades had a dramatic upward trend since freshman year.
[] Rank: –
[] Other stats: I only have 2 APs and that’s in my senior year, which they don’t look at - so I wouldn’t stress about that. Plus, I don’t have many extracurriculars and only take Honors English each year, and I’ve taken Honors Bio, Honors US History, Honors NSL, and that’s about it I think. I’m not an outstanding student, you don’t need a 2300 to get in. I was freaking out about that too.
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Personal Statement I used for the Common App and other schools
[] Teacher Recs: One
