PSU - University Park - CS Major

Based on my academic credentials, do you think I could get into PSU’s main campus, or even a satellite campus? :

5 APs: AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP Calculus AB, AP Statistics, AP Microeconomics

No scores yet, still taking them. (Doesn’t matter to me anyways, not planning to skip any uni courses)

GPA: 3.4
SAT (new): 1280/1600
Extracurriculars: Not great, participated in a robotics competition/club, and a CAD club.

Do I even have a chance?

definitely yes to a branch campus. Possibly for UP campus if you apply DUS and summer session. My daughter got in 2 years ago with similar stats to summer.

The priority deadline for this year has passed which will make it even more difficult to get in. If you are applying in the next cycle…ie you are currently a junior…then you should make sure to apply by the priority deadline of Nov 30.

I’m a senior, so that’s why i’m worried. Hopefully I can get in.

Yes, it gets more competitive after November 30. You have a shot if their enrollment wasn´t what was expected and it will REALLY depend on your scores. A high score may bump you in. A lower one will likely bump you to a satellite. You should still get into a satellite campus, although housing is likely filled. That´s ok though because there is usually housing nearby. The closest satellite to UP is Altoona…my son is actually attending there in the fall. It´s only about 40 minutes and students go to UP all of the time for football games etc so it is the easiest satellite to be really involved up at UP. But Erie campus is beautiful as are others. I wouldn´t dismiss PSU altogether if you get into a satellite because 60% of all PSU graduates started at one. Good luck!
