Psych major at various liberal arts colleges

Hello all! I’m applying to transfer in the fall as a sophomore looking to major in psychology, and I’m wondering if anybody could give me some insight into what it’s like to be a psych major at some of the schools I’m looking at. My current list is:
-Barnard
-Brown
-Bryn Mawr
-Earlham
-Goucher
-Grinnell
-Haverford
-Kenyon
-Mills
-Mount Holyoke
-Northeastern
-Pitzer
-Skidmore
-Smith
-Stanford
-Vassar
-Washington U in St. Louis
-Wellesley
-Wesleyan
-Williams
If you know any other schools along these lines that have particularly phenomenal psych programs, please let me know about that as well. Thank you so much!!

Look for colleges that offer courses in each of the major branches of modern psychology: clinical, cognitive, educational, developmental, personality, physiological, sensory and social. If you are interested in clinical psychology, the opportunity for a field placement at a local mental health care facility could prove valuable.

In a defacto sense, it can be argued that Williams does not accept transfer students.

I would look at each school’s core curriculum and requirements for the major and be sure that you can complete your degree in 4 years.

Thanks for the input! I’ve actually already looked pretty extensively at the info about the psych programs on the websites. I’m more interested in people’s specific experiences with the psych program - info that can’t be gotten from the sites.

It isn’t on your list but my D is at Lafayette and loves it…great professors,…she is dong a ton of research etc.

“Prisoners” and “guards” did have specific, deep experience with Stanford’s program, but research into that would be unlikely to help you with your selection process.

My husband loved his psychology major at Vassar. He is a psychologist.
If Freudian psychology/psychoanalysis is your interest, Clark University has great renown in this area.

Psych will be excellent at every school on that list. It’s one of the most commonly “strong” departments at all top schools. I had roommates at Williams who majored in psych (and were pre-Med as well) and speak very highly of the department, fwiw.
