Is it okay to change your major especially from Psychology to Premed after getting accepted? Is there an extra essay that I would have to write? I applied for Psychology major and got in with a deans scholarship. Would I lose that scholarship if I were to change my major? Or is it something like you can stick to Psych and still do Premed

There is no “premed” major. Pre-med just means that you want to go to medical school after graduation, but you can major in a large variety of things including psychology. A large majority of premed students are biology majors because the major covers all of the requirements for medical school, but as long as you take a year of bio/gen chem/physics/orgo you’ll be fine for most medical schools regardless of your major.

If you really want to switch your major you shouldn’t have a problem. I know several students that did that before they started college.

I graduated from Drexel’s College of Medicine in 2001 (Actually that was the last year it was known as MCP Hahnemann) and I majored in Astronomy as an undergraduate at the University of Maryland College Park. As long as you take the required Biology and Chemistry classes they care more about your GPA than what you majored in. Therefore, major in something you really enjoy so you will be motivated to study and get good grades if you want to get accepted to medical school.
