I'm going back and forth between Psychology and Commerce majors. I know, the Comm school is excellent, but how is the Psychology department? I know if I go into Psychology, I can still go into business working in the marketing field (which is what I planned to do all along).

You’ll have far better job opportunities if you pursue a major in the commerce school.

I’ve only taken one psych class (social psychology). I liked it a lot, but I can’t speak for the whole department… for marketing, doing commerce would open more doors career wise. That plus a background in psych (such as a minor or double major) could also work in your favor…but I wouldn’t depend on a psych degree alone to get you into the marketing field.

“…but I wouldn’t depend on a psych degree alone to get you into the marketing field.”

I concur with that. If you want to do marketing from a BA in Psych, plan on doing research projects in that area and/or internships!! Uber-important

Other than marketing, anyone know what kind of jobs you could expect with a BA in Psych? I’m pre-med and I want to major in psychology because the classes sound super interesting but if I don’t get into med school then I don’t want to be stuck without a job.
