So first things first, I'm a entering freshman planning on taking on a B.S. in Psychology but, I'm a bit late in starting to plan my classes. I've been getting tripped up by all these little things I have questions on, and I just don't feel it's the thing I should be bothering E-Advising with...

If any of you fellows could help me out or point me in the right direction to answer ANY of these questions, I'd appreciate it!:

When you go and register classes, it's just for the Fall Semester, right? Just checking.

Tritonlink says this of my assigned registration period: "ASSIGNED REGISTRATION PERIOD: Wednesday, September 1st at 2:40 PM. The early enrollment period ends on: Monday, 09/06/2010 at 11:59 PM." Today is 8/29. This means I've got about 2-8 days to get this sorted out, right? I'm a bit tripped up by the word, "early", there.

The Two PoFCs. Right now, I'm REALLY confused about filling this requirement. I understand I need to select one from the Humanities & Fine Arts section of the student guide and another from the Natural Sciences, Math&*Engineering section, since Psychology is a Social Science Major, but that's about the extent of it. I've just got no idea yet which PoFCs to pursue, or which classes would fill the 6 course requirement for each PoFCS. Is this something I should concern myself with right now, when planning for the Fall semester, or something I should take up with the academic advisor after I've gotten to the school?

What are the differences in lower division prequisites between the B.S and B.A. tracks in psychology? My online four year plan has recommendations for classes based on the B.A. Psychology Track, but nothing for the B.S. track, so I'm a bit flustered on this topic as well.

Is there any number I can call, any person on campus I can see (preferably before Wednesday) to get help on figuring out my schedule? I know there's the E-Advising, but I tend to communicate a bit better face to face, or over the phone.

1.Yes
2. Since upperclassmen are locked out of WebReg so transfers and freshmen can enroll in classes, after the 6th, upperclassmen will be able to use WebReg again. Here’s a friendly tip: You better figure out (more or less) what classes you want to take so you’re ready to enroll in them the moment your enrollment times starts or you might not get the classes you want. Just saying, be prepared.
3.Look through the course listings for the PofCs you’re interested in to find 6 classes you would want to take. Almost every 4 unit class works for them. Remember that at least 3 of the classes for each PofC must be upper-division. It’s not completely necessary to take a PofC your first quarter and you can always talk to an advisor about them, but I would recommend thinking about them now.
4. I have no idea, sorry.
5. Check out your course recommendations, but here’s the Warren College Advising page. [Academic Advising Home](Academics)

Try 858.534.3001 to speak with an advisor or visit [UCSD Psychology | Undergraduate Program | Undergraduate Program Overview](<a href=“Department of Psychology”>Department of Psychology) if you haven’t already. It tells you about requirements for BA and BS. Many departments have counselors that should be available right now for consultation.

I wasn’t expecting such quick answers! The information about registering and the phone number were especially helpful, and now I’m way less confused and a lot further along on all this. Thank you both so much. :)

–

I’ve still got a few things I don’t understand about the PoFcs though, and though I’ve left a message with the Warren Academic Advising Office, I thought it couldn’t hurt to should ask here as well:

It’s my understanding that if I were to take Foreign Language and Culture (a specialized PofC) as my Humanities and Fine Arts PofC, this means I can’t take another specialized PofC as my Natural Sci., Math and Engineering PofC. Is this correct?

For the specialized PofC Fundamentals of Biology, it says the requirement is 6 lower division Biology courses. From what I understand, the only difference between the Fundamentals of Biology PofC and the regular Biology PofC is that the latter requires you to take 3 upper division courses. Is this correct?

If I were to go into an interdisciplinary PofC, such as Japanese Studies, does this mean I can still select another PofC? Or do I take 12 courses, all supporting Japanese studies? I’m betting this one will have to be settled by the advisor, but no harm in asking, right?

If anyone knows the answer to any of the above, I’d appreciate your help! Thanks again in advance.
