psychology?

what colleges have good psychology/premed programs? im thinking of psychiatry...

Well, I have a different problem..I'm thinkin of becomin a psychologist in the future-God willing....and I want to go to Southern Adventist University..I get straight A's but I have a 90 in Honors Geometry-obviously I'm a freshman in HS- however, I want to know if I need to have straigth A's to get into a good college. I have all Honor classes but I'm worrying that a high B may kill my chances at goin to a good college...Should I worry or am I ok?

I got into Penn ED this year and I have Bs so don't worry about it too much. Just make sure that you have good extra curriculars. Start now and stay focused on a few things you love, but not so focused that you don't have any variety.

bump
hey what happened to my question?? what are some colleges with a good psychology program?

Oh, sorry about that. I'll be doing psych at Penn. They have a good grad program that gets a top ranking every year. And I figured that going to Penn would help getting into Penn grad somewhat, because I could become familiar with everything. But I'm not so sure about other schools psych programs. Psychology in undergrad is pretty much the same everywhere (or so I've been told) and it all comes down to research and intership opportunities to get into grad. But that's for psychology. For psychiatry, (that used to be my goal) I was told that you don't need to major in psych undergrad as long as you do premed because all the psych classes come in med school. I was told this by a doctor that went to Penn so I think he's pretty reliable.

oh so if i want to do psychiatry, i dont need to major psychology during undergrad, just premed? just how long does psychiatry take?

I'm not sure how long it takes for psychiatry. I think it's 4 years of med school and then 4 years residency. And about the psych undergrad degree, I personally think it'd be good to do a psych major with the pre-med. It'd probably help get you into a good med school, since that's not really required. And you'd be a step above other people in the psych classes in med school, since you would have learned a lot of the stuff.

well besides penn, what other schools have a good psychology program?

I'm not really sure for undergrad, but I've found some lists for grad school. I'm assuming that if the school has a good psych grad program, their undergrad would be good, too.

Stanford was at the top of a lot of lists, followed by the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC SanDiego, and Carnegie Mellon.

Some other schools on the lists were:
Yale U
Harvard U
Princton U
U of Chicago
U of Virginia
Northwestern U
Cornell U
Columbia U
Ohio State U
MSU

But those are all for grad, as I said. I'll see if I can find some undergrad info for you.

alright thanks!
