<p>Don't expect these kind of bargains at the most popular public universities, but if your kid has a yen to go to college out of state, this may be a way to afford it.</p>

<p>Students at North Dakota universities who pay rent there for at least one year and make other efforts such as registering to vote, paying local taxes, and switching car registration can apply for in-state status. The total in-state cost of attending the University of North Dakota this year is about $16,000."</p>
<p>Bemidji State University in Minnesota doesn’t charge out-of-state tuition either, and it’s only $7000 a year! There are definitely some reasonable ways for a student to get out of their state for college.</p>
<p>Also check out all of the W.U.E. (Western University Exchange) programs which will give out of state students 150% of in state tuition. For example U of Idaho in state tuition $5402 W.U.E. $8103, plus room and board of @$7200 can make for good option for someone who qualifies.</p>
<p>The Academic Common Market is limited to students studying specific majors. I have known several people here in VA who were under the impression that they would pay in state tuition at WVU, only to find out that their child didn’t qualify.</p>
<p>What FallGirl said … a good friend of mine has a son at UTK studying biomedical engineering paying in-state tuition, but only because no school in West Virginia, including WVU, offered it.</p>

<p>OOS tuition is about $20k per year, so the 2/3 tuition scholarship is for about $13k per year. The remaining amount is actually less than in-state. </p>
<p>With an ACT 30 (or M+CR SAT 1330 SAT) and 3.5 GPA, you get a 2/3 tuition scholarship, so the remaining 1/3 is a bit less than in-state. - scholarship increases as tuition increases.).</p>

<p>Bama has recently jumped 17 places in the USNews ranking. It is now tied with American University, Baylor U, Miami U, and Michigan State University.</p>
<p>Many colleges reduce or eliminate out-of-state tuition for students from neighboring states. Some have academic requirements. Some require you to be a resident of a particular county in a border state. Check for details on the websites of colleges that interest you.
(One regional group is the Midwest Student Exchange Program–participating states are Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, and Indiana–out of state fees are generally reduced by 1/2–but check for details by college on the MSEP website.)</p>
<p>University of Minnesota-Twin Cities gave my D in-state tuition with her Gold National Scholarship, which was an automatic scholarship based on stats, not one that required a separate application.</p>
<p>The University of Colorado and Colorado State offer a middle ground. Certain Western State residents only have to pay 1.5 times the in-state tuition.</p>
<p>Texas State offers certain students Assurance Scholarships, that make them eligible to pay in-state tuition, no matter where they live.</p>
Ferris State University offers in state tuition to students from California New York Florida Ohio Illinois Ontario,Canada Indiana Pennsylvania Iowa Tennessee Kentucky Virginia Maryland West Virginia Minnesota Wisconsin Missouri and has a pharmacy program.
Grand Valley State University offers approximately in state tuition for those with a 3.5 grade point average and a 26 ACT composite score or an 1190 SAT combined score on the critical reading and math combined.
Eastern Michigan University offers in state tuition to Ohio Students.</p>
<p>Pennsylvania PASSHE (state) schools
Annual in state tuition and fees are about $6 K/year. Many out of state students qualify for out of state tuition that is 150% of that, about $9 K/year. Add fees, room, and board, and you are left with very reasonable prices for oos students.

Some of the schools we are mentioning are mid or lower tier in their states, but the U M Morris is the liberal arts public university of Minnesota and really a very good school. If you are accepted and from out of state, they will pay for you to come and visit.</p>
<p>Ohio’s Youngstown State University offers in state tuition + $200 to Western Pennsylvania students (Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Crawford, Erie, Lawrence, Mercer, and Venango counties); that includes the Pittsburgh area.</p>
