Public Health at Tulane

I recently applied to Tulane and I was wondering about the environmental health studies field. I asked a Tulane rep and she said it was a fairly new major offered at the school. I was wondering if anyone going to the school had any insight about it? Thanks.

My husband was with the CDC for several years and knew many health professionals who came through Tulane's Public Health school at the graduate level. His impression was that they were generally very well trained.

Assuming the new undergraduate program would have access to some of the same resources (profs, etc), I think it would be an excellent choice. It would probably be a good idea to study the website of the Public Health School to get a better idea about their program as a point of reference.

I can say that if my S, who currently attends Tulane, decided on that major, I'd feel pretty confident he'd be getting some great experience and exposure.

I'm a freshman this year at tulane and am a declared public health major and premed, and so far my experience with the public health program has been great. A lot of resources and great service learning possiblities.

Yeah, this school is great for public health. You can do the 4 year undergrad program, and then stay and finish the Masters in an additional year. So far the program seems like it really prepares you for a job--we don't have many tests where you're forced to regurgitate dates/facts, but we do have a lot of group projects writing case studies. If you want to know anything about the public health program, feel free to PM me!
