<p>I am a rising junior at a small liberal arts school in Minnesota studying anthropology with a concentration in community and global health. I need to find an internship next summer (next summer being summer of 2011) that deals with public health or epidemiology and research but am wondering what options exist without a strong natural and physical science background. A lot of research internships require prior course work in biology which I do not have. I need a program or internship with a social science focus within it as well. Something with medical anthropology and/or epidemiology would be perfect.</p>

<p>I am actually at a pretty phenomenal public health internship right now. It’s at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. JHSPH has amazing research opportunities for any department, really. I’m in the Malaria Research Institute, and I work right across the hall from a Nobel laureate. If you’re looking for an epi-based internship, it would be hard to find one based more in the social sciences. I know of one girl whose research project is trying to improve the efficiency of 911 calls, so she actually sits at a cubicle and listens to calls.
