So I've been doing a bit of researching on this new-ish major, and I'm pretty interested in it. Is this a good major to get involved in if you're planning to do a premed-type program? And I know they accept 50 people per semester on a rolling basis. That said, is it a lot of competition to get into the program?

If you look at the list of potential careers that is on the Public Health major webpage, you will see that the major seems to be very vocational. Medical schools frown upon vocational majors (ie. why you don’t see many pre-med Nursing majors), so in that sense it isn’t a great ‘pre-med’ major. I was also interested in that major but after looking the list of career paths provided, I stuck with Biology. However, if you can justify your reasoning for being a Public Health major into why you want to be a physician, then go for it. Also, don’t do Public Health is you’re just looking for an easy major. That could come back to bite you.
