Public Health

I'm really set on pursuing this major at JHU, and it's exciting to have the opportunity to take courses at the world's best school of public health. But I have a few questions. Hopefully there's a current JHU Public Health major somewhere on here who can tell me a bit about the program.

If you could just elaborate on your experience, I'd appreciate it.

Also, more specifically, what is the career outlook like for a public health major? The JHU site claims that a natural science concentration will prepare one well for medical school. However, are there further possibilities? Is this the appropriate degree for a path into government health policy? A job at the World Health Organization? Perhaps a career formulating health policy for the UN? These are areas I would surely be interested in if my medical path didn't work out.

I'm just interested in the back-up plan for this major, as well as a little info. on what it's like to go Public Health at JHU.

Thank you!

well a bit of additional research yielded some answers. the following site is a great source of information, if anyone is interested:

http://www.jhu.edu/phsf/

However, I'm still interested to hear from those in the program!!

I'm not a public health major and I don't know if there are any who post on CC, but you could try asking on the Hopkins admissions forums (http://apply.jhu.edu/forums/). There are two public health majors who could probably answer your questions.
