Pumping up my resume

Hey there.

I know I can get excellent grades taking rigorous courses and achieve a great SAT score.
I did well my freshman year.

The only things that come in mind are extracurriculars and making myself stand out.

I will be a sophomore in high school tomorrow and I just wanted some advice.

I am playing club basketball and running an online business.

My passion is business, but there are no clubs or classes that are about business at my school. I'm guessing the only way to show colleges that I am a business-type person is to show it through my essay.

Is club basketball and running a business enough for extracurriculars?

Or should I do some volunteer work and join a club? Like key club and volunteering at a hospital.

If you truly had passion about your extracurricular activities, you wouldn’t be asking about how to “pump up” your resume.

Doing volunteer work or joining a club really doesn’t help you stand out. Do it if you want. I would think that your online business would take up tons of time. You should do the things you want to do with your time.

^ i agree. Only participate in something if you really want to and enjoy it, because you join a club just to ‘pump up your resume’ and end up hating it and only complaining about it, its really no good use to you. Don’t waste your time on that. Stick with your online business and if you llike business so much and you want to volunteer why done you look for somewhere related to volunteer at and learn something as well? or start a business club at your school
