Hey guys! I will be applying to undergrad business schools during the upcoming school year. I am looking for advice on how to improve my applications. What could I do within the next few months to boost my chances of acceptance? I have relatively strong stats and extracurriculars, but most of my extracurriculars have not been geared towards business. I feel that I need to show a stronger emphasis on business in my apps, but I am unsure about how to do this. My school offers no business-related clubs, so my opportunities have been limited. Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance!

Sorry guys, just noticed that CC submitted the thread twice for some reason.

I was also limited in job/“business” experience when applying for college. Basically, my experience was that those credentials were really only necessary when I was applying for Honors Business programs. Just focus on the normal elements of the application: standardized test scores, GPA, and ECs.

Start a business or non profit. What you do is figure out what you want to do thats easy for a kid to do (painting houses, mowing lawns, cleaning pools, and etc), gather people or do it yourself, coldcall your town, get estimates, buy supplies, do the work, bill them, use some of the money to reinvest in the supplies.

A lot of this is easier said than done especially when you have to deal with workers and customers.

high school business clubs? really? such a thing exists? ridiculous.

Don’t join anything like that. sounds dumb and I’m no expert, but anything you do these last 4 months will probably not have any real impact on your chances of acceptance especially if it is somthing like Joining a club for 4 months…To start doing something NOW just to spin it into a “story” to include in your application is insincere, silly, and not worth the time…especially since the admissions committe will see straight thru you.

A highschooler will not be expected to have started a business or not for profit. Trying to appear an expert or a business man/women, in your application, will make you look silly.

…main things to do is to continue getting good grades, and start drafting your essays to get them read by others.
