Purchasing a Bike

<p>Well, I've officially been a Rice Owl for over three weeks now, and I absolutey LOVE IT HERE SO FAR!! :D </p>

<p>Ok, on to the reason for this post: I am still toying with the idea of purchasing a bike--it would definitely be a useful tool to have with me here on campus! Can anyone please recommend to me the best place to go to purchase a bike near/on/around campus? I know that Sid has a bike shop that sells refurbished bikes, but it's only open on random weekend hours and I always seem to be busy when it is open. </p>

<p>Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :)</p>

<p>check with RUPD. they sold abandoned bikes in the past.</p>

<p>Target? You can take the bus to get there.</p>

<p>Craigslist. By far the easiest and best way to get a bike.</p>

<p>Shop around there and look for people in the medical center area. Some will be willing to meet you at Rice</p>

<p>DON’T go to Cycle Spectrum on Shepherd. Also, Bike Barn in the village will charge far more than you need to spend at Target, on Craigslist, or (you need a car for this one) at a pawn shop, the latter being my highest recommendation – Craigslist-level prices, but unlike most CL purchases, you can make comparisons and really check the bike out before purchase.</p>
