OOS undergrad. Purdue costs $44 k and stony brook $28 k with renewable scholarship . either mech or ece is fine with son . is Purdue worth the extra costs since finance is limited?
Can your family easily pay for it? That’s a question they need to answer. Are both ABET accredited? That’s what really matters for the programs.
I really cannot reconciled the fact that College Student would be willing to pursue either Electrical & Computer Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Is it that he or she is unsure of hi/her career interest at this time?
Either way, I would select Purdue is the Net Tuition/Room/Board Cost is the same.
My vote is Stony Brook. A kid that hasn’t really decided which branch of engineering he wants to pursue implies to me that he hasn’t really looked into what they do in either branch or thought about how well the career is a fit for him. He is likely to flinch at the workload and odds are fair he decides it isn’t worth it. About 1/2 of all entering engineers end up dropping out. So I suggest going to the less expensive option.
