I got admitted to both for chemical engineering (dunno, but might change to electrical later on), which will offer me better opportunities in internships, research experience in cool labs working with expensive instruments, job placement etc.?
BTW -I am still waiting to hear from Carnegie Mellon, University of Texas, Austin and Georgia Tech.

overall, uiuc is a better school

I would go to UIUC, but that's just me. Purdue has a great engineering program as well but UIUC has strong programs outside of engineering in case you decide to switch.

I'd wait until you hear from the rest of your schools because your mind may change once you do, and after you see the financial aid packages.

i would say go to uiuc because it is ranked higher in chemical engineering than purdue. and besides, illinois is far cooler place than indiana... haha but thats only cuz im biased. but on a serious note, i like the u of i campus much better and i got to meet some engineering profs (not from chemE but from MSE) and they seemed like they truly cared. im not too sure about internships and such but my guess would be that since u of i is ranked higher you would get more opportunities. thats just my 2 cents tho.

UIUC, better reputation,

My best advice is to visit both campuses and decide for yourself. Both are well-known universities and very similar in many ways. Illinois has the edge on students pursuing research, while Purdue's reputation among working engineers tops that of Illinois.

Frankly, it's a toss-up. If you know you want to go into research, choose Illinois. If you know you want to work after graduation, choose Purdue. If you aren't sure, choose whichever campus and educational atmosphere you like best.

IMO, UIUC has the better program and better campus.
