purdue or ohio state

Hello guys,

I applied to both of these universities into the math major and I was wondering what would be a better choice, pros and cons

Thank you in advance!

Very comparable. Which place do you like better (a small city or corn fields)? Which is less expensive?

I think city over rural places haha and I’m not sure it comes down to financial aid and I have $0 expected family contribution so hopefully I will get a lot because I not rich by any means

@ErinsDad corn fields? Maybe you are thinking of UIUC. West Lafayette is not a cornfield, neither is Columbus!

Unless I can come up with some specific pros and cons for the particular program you want, both schools are solid - I’m going with the cheaper option.

Did you run the Net Price Calculator on each school’s web site? You have two public Us in different states so you’d be out of state for at least one. Are you in-state for either one? If not it will depend on whether you get any merit aid.

@s16s18s21s25 it was in my memory from when I drove by Purdue. But it must be most of the highway getting to West Lafayette.

No I am out of state for both. I did run the net price calculator and it is still too much so I am unsure. but purdue is cheaper so I guess that will have to be my choice because can’t graduate with a huge debt. Waiting for the aid package still! Thank you @SouthFloridaMom9 @“Erin’s Dad”

Did you find any affordable schools during your search? What are your stats?

yess the higher up private schools are the most affordable because of financial aid but they’re tough because sats 1810 and subject test chem 700 and math lvl 2 710
in school 5.0 gpa on a 5.0 scale no ap classes at my school, striaght A’s all throughout highschool and very invovled, my biggest hope is upenn, i got a interview towards the end of feb so hopefully thats a good sign
