My GPA is only so low because I almost failed freshman year (explained) - and had bad grades in MS (1.4, 13.5 credits). Retook 7 courses to improve that. I have also been to three schools. My grades dipped a bit junior year, but because I switched schools again…
Good essay, and supplementals.
Idk, a few other things…

If you have any questions, please ask. I have put a lot of time and thought into these applications. Any response would be much appreciated.

Oh, also, considering the quality and # of schools I have been to, my test scores are really good. I honestly don’t know if that makes a difference though.

Tbh I think Purdue is a huge reach, you are well below the average SAT and GPA and I’m not sure how much leeway explanations would give you. Assuming OSU is ohio state, it’s not as big as a reach as Purdue but it’s still pretty high up there. Bad grades in MS shouldn’t affect your GPA as that is only calculated for grades 9-12 in my experiences. Retaking courses- as long as improvement is shown- should reflect positively though. Definitely utilize the additional information section to explain those issues as long as a positive spin is put on it. Admissions consider where you live and the quality of your high schools to know what to expect from you as far as ECs and courses, but if your test scores and GPA are significantly lower such as yours it doesn’t matter so much.

tl;dr you can apply as a far reach school but i would definitely get some safeties and better matches in your application list.

OSU is a huge reach as well. Their 25th percentile for UW GPA is a 3.7 and ACT is a 28, so you’re like 10th percentile for ACT and lower for GPA. How is that possible you have a 3.4 W GPA and you are top 20%? How big is your class? I live in Ohio and go to a large high school and top 20% is 4.05 W or above. If you get in at all, be ready to get deferred to Newark or another outlying campus.

I took 6.5 high school classes in middle school, so that lowered my GPA a lot. I know its a reach, but I will try my best. Although my previous schools were poor, since junior year I have attended one of the better High Schools in the state, and haven’t done too poorly (4.7 right now). But then again, you are right. We will see I guess.

There are 174, and I have no idea honestly. I’m ranked 30th.

3.4 and 26 on the ACT is on the low end, but certainly possible. The average GPA is around 3.7. It’s definately worth applying, but I wouldn’t put my hopes and dreams on it. Your stats put you right in the center of Cincinnati and Ohio University. Both have decent engineering schools.

Already got into both and U Dayton. They all offered my good merit too. But, currently, both are my backup plan.

Are you considering any schools outside of Ohio? That would give you a lot more options.

Yeah, but not too many. I have also applied to CU Boulder, Kettering, and Kentucky. I’m not exactly sure where else to apply to though.

Texas A&M could be a viable option.

Thanks! I’ll check it out.
