Hi
My son has been accepted into a few colleges and has narrowed it down to University of Washington-Seattle and Purdue(For Computer Science).
I was wondering which college was better for his major.

UW, if you can get into the program.

Herman Cain got his CS degree from Purdue.

UW is definitely better, but keep in mind that the admissions rate to the major is around 25-30%. I’m not sure how selective the department is at Purdue, so you’ll need to weigh your options carefully.

I am in the same boat. Selected to UW and Purdue, and interested in CS. I have been rejected in CS at UW for direct admission though.

Keep in mind, through direct admission VERY few people are accepted. Maybe 75 out of over a thousand who are considered. Not getting direct admit does not mean you can’t get into the department.

Yeah, direct admit is about 5% accept rate and 2.5% ultimate yield (people who commit to UW) rate. 25-40% (we’re debating numbers :\ depends what the factors are) of applicants get into the department through accelerated or upper division admissions.

Ok, so it looks like UW isn’t really a good option for my son.
He was also looking at Pennsylvania State University for Engineering(Undecided).
How does PSU compare to UW and Purdue?
