how will i stack up for the computer science program at UMASS,Purdue main campus, University of washington, university of wisconsin.
Hi AceBuck,
I don’t think you will be competitive for the University of Washington’s Comp Sci program. It is in the top ten in the country and they barely admit any new freshman directly into the program. In terms of general admission, I would say you have a chance. Your TOEFL is strong and so is your GPA - assuming your curriculum is really strong (math, science, language all four years) that is in line with a competitive student. I’d say that your SAT scores are below average slightly as the international applicant pool tends to be pretty strong is this area.
As far as the other programs, they are all also pretty strong but not quite the same as Univ. Washington. I would guess you will get in to Indiana and Minnesota - the others will also be close I think. Best of luck!
I think your SAT score is too low for an international at Umass. Comp sci is a very competitive program there. Good luck at your other schools!
No you’ll be fine with Umass. You almost would make the honors college cutoff, just 60 points short between your math/reading.
@cferrera13 - Well he has a 1230 (M+R) SAT The average UMass student has a 1220 SAT. (Honors college cutoff is at 1300, but you won’t have a good chance until you’re 1360+ with a 4.25+ Weighted GPA) @acebuck9999 This all being said I think you have good chance at UMass Amherst, but perhaps not the CS program. As the CS department stated on their webpage “Our incoming 199 first year undergraduate students have a strong academic background with an average GPA and SAT score of 3.9 and 1355 respectively”. I’m guessing that’s weighted GPA. Lastly, you could transfer into the CS later, as I’m guessing you will be accepted as undecided in any case. Good Luck
