I've been accepted to ND and Purdue for engineering, and I'm deciding whether or not to consider Purdue as an option. I will also be studying fine arts. I'm waiting on a few from other schools as well. I ADORE ND but I've grown up right next door and I know the campus extremely well. I do kind of want a "new experience." Any help comparing the two would be appreciated, especially with social life! Thank you! :)

In my opinion Purdue would be superior to Notre Dame in the areas of it’s Engineering Program and it’s cost (especially if you are instate for Indiana). I cannot speak to it’s fine arts program only to say that Purdue does not offer a Music major, however, it does have two orchestras, bands, singing groups etc. W. Lafayette is a college town and for the most part and Purdue is perceived to be a safe area. Anything I know about Notre Dame is hearsay. I have heard that the campus is beautiful, however, the area surrounding the campus is not very nice. Good luck in your decision.

Purdue engineering, at instate rates, should be an easy decision compared to ND – especially if you are already familiar with SB and campus. We know lots of all kinds of students who are flourishing at Purdue As a parent, I would say go to West Lafayette and don’t look back.
