Putting self-studied courses on apps?

I know that certain college applications have a spot for you to write in what classes you took in your senior year. I'm just wondering if I could put a self-studied course in that section? For example, if I bought a Marine Biology course intended for homeschoolers and completed it, could I consider that part of my senior year course load?

I'm considering self-studying for the AP Biology test anyway, so they would have that to look at.

Thanks in advance.

I have the exact same question.

^me too....

I don't think that it could hurt you. But I might do something like * and then put at the bottom: *=self-study/independent study.

Well I know that JoeTrumpet (accepted into UChic and Princeton among others) put Physics C (Independent Study) as one of his courses.

I don't think self studied courses should be added to the official course list seeng as though they aren't official courses for which you have grades (aka not on your transcript). Instead put it under the area of additional information for college

Many colleges put something like:

"Please list your courses below."

I wouldn't feel bad about putting something like: AP Physics C (Self/Independent Study)

I know a lot of transcripts will put "In progress" or "scheduled to take" on your official transcript.

If you will be getting credit for it from your school, then I would put it in the classes you're taking. If it's just a self-study on your own, then I would put that in additional details or something.
