Here’s a question: Leave Wednesday or stay though Thursday? I’m conflicted. D’s school went to Chicago unifieds this year. They left Wednesday around noon and she said that everyone auditioned for all of their schools so she doesn’t think we need to stay until Thursday. I subscribe to the better safe than sorry theory.

I plan on leaving Wednesday late afternoon/early evening. He will already be missing 3 days of school.

Wednesday afternoon was pretty dead around there as a lot of the schools were packing up. We had an audition scheduled and did a couple walkins that we scheduled on Monday for that Wednesday afternoon. We also took in a show since the Book of Mormon was at the theatre a block down. We did one of our 4 hour block schools on Thursday morning so we stayed. I also decided we would be so tired by Wednesday I didn’t want to drive home and have my D feel like she had to go to school Thursday morning.

I guess I should wait to see how the rest of the schools scheduling shakes out. I’m thinking that the non-Unified schools may have Thursday auditions just as some have Sunday auditions. Thanks.

We’re leaving Wednesday afternoon. Flight leaves at 4:30, so I figure he can do a full morning audition, and then we’ll get our stuff together and leave. I need him back in school…he’s missing SO many days in February.

We are leaving California on Friday and flying east for an audition on Saturday, then flying to Chicago on either Saturday night or Sunday morning. We leave on Thursday for 2 more auditions, 1 Friday, 1 Saturday, and then fly home on Sunday. D will be missing a week of school, but have no plans to pull her out again at this point.

At least this is the plan as it stands now hoping we get the audition dates we want.

LoveMyMTGirl-I ran into several people that did that last year. There were a few from Hawaii that had to do it that way as well. We had a few sporadic Fridays but tried to do most that week as well. It happened to be the start of the new semester at school so it was perfect-she didn’t miss too much at all.

My D has a list of 9 colleges she is auditioning for at Chicago Unifieds. The plan is to do 3 a day, hopefully! Does this seem reasonable? Will she have any opportunity to add in any walk-ins with that schedule?

LoveMyMTGirl- that is reasonable. We did that. We scheduled them first thing in the morning, mid day and right before the end of the day. It allowed for plenty of time in between and walkins. We were able to add 6 walkins. My D ended up loving Unifieds and auditioning.

Thanks broadway95, that relieves my mind.

I have a list of colleges that we are hoping have walk-ins. Does anyone know if these colleges had walk-ins last year?

Long Island University
Millikin University
Montclair State University
Roosevelt University
University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point
Viterbo University
Webster University

Long Island University and UW-Stevens Point both had a lot of Walk in slots. Montclair and Viterbo I want to say had walk-ins, but not a lot, so definitely check those schools out on the first day if interested!

Yes I remember seeing all of them except I don’t know about Roosevelt because they were not at Palmer house it was at the school and their dance call is on Sunday. I did not notice Milikin. I remember Montclair charged $30 for their walkin…not all schools charge

Regarding University of Michigan’s Dance Call on Sunday, Feb 2 – just got off the phone with U of M to try to narrow down times in case D’s prescreen passes. They said the dance call would be in the afternoon, and there would likely be 2 times to choose from. Plan on an hour. They will not have specific time info until a couple weeks before Unifieds, which is when they’ll know how many students will be auditioning (and how big the groups will be–I assume that will determine how many time options). Those who pass the pre-screen and are signed up for Chicago Unifieds will be notified 2 weeks prior with a specific time for Sunday’s dance call.

In 13 Weeks! (but who’s counting?)

AARRRRGH!!! I’m not ready for a countdown yet!!! Maybe by Jan 31st…maybe…

Chicago schedule set! 7 schools in 4 days. Whew! (Hoping to add 1-2 walk-ins)

Who else will be there, and who is staying at the PHH?

We are! It looks like we have 6 scheduled over 3 days…unfortunately, we messed up arranging the auditions and 4 or 5 are on Monday. I am going to have to call and try to fix things. We will do walk-ins if there is time She would especially love to audition for some UK schools, but I am not sure those have walk-ins. I told her if she was going to apply for anything else-she needed to take the initiative, do her research and get any overseas apps done on her own. Looking forward to getting to see you in Chicago SU88BFA!

We are going to be there… Even though we live near New York City. (The Superbowl has messed up the NY Unifieds, spreading them over 2 weekends.)
We are also staying at the Palmer House. The fact that everything is in the same building and you can go back to your room in between auditions was actually another reason we chose Chicago. Seems more relaxing!
My D has 4 auditions so far in Chicago and we may add walk-ins if she doesn’t get into U Arts. (Will know about U Arts in a couple of weeks.)

Dramamama-- You hit the nail on the head, re: PHH! We could have driven to NYC Unifieds, but because Chicago is longer and we can stay in the same building was the clincher for us, too.

Frazzled35-- Looking forward to meeting you there, too! We get in Saturday, late afternoon-- staying on the Executive level. Par-tay! LOL

Our Unifieds schedule was finalized this weekend as well! 7 schools over 4 days (we bumped CMU to their Thursday availability) With an audition on the way home (and hopefully an audition on the way there - but that’s the final prescreen we are waiting on!) Staying at PHH - but a regular level room. See you all there!
