I’m wondering when Collegeboard will release the May 2016 test (it is a QAS test so they should release them right?) This will give us an extra ‘practice test’ material.
They should be releasing two (!) practice tests by the end of next week. On College Board time, that could mean the next two weeks. It should show up on Khan and the College Board site at approximately the same time. One of them is based on the May administration (they had to repair the discarded problem). It’s likely that the second is the Sunday administration, but I’m not sure.
That’s what they’re saying, but if true, it’s a departure from their past policies. They’ve never done it before–ever.
Apparently, Collegeboard releases copies of its test to test takers of 3 test dates, January, May, and October. Because the new SAT debuted March, that means there is currently one QAS in movement to May test takers who ordered them. My question is, how can I get access to these released exams? It makes sense that they shouldn’t be restricted or confidential at all. Collegeboard released them to all test takers of May, not a particularly limited selection factor at all. The only problem that might arise is that nobody is supposed to reproduce copies of the test. However, if money is not involved, I don’t see the problem. I can just peek at my friend’s QAS. Who will prosecute me then? Additionally, this aligns well with the policy the Collegeboard has adopted to promote transparency.
That is good news! I’ve used up those 4 practice tests already. Tutors need extra material too.
The CB doesn’t “release” them to all test takers; it sells them. Whether you get one or not is up to you, but the CB intends them to only go to test-takers who took that exam and paid to receive the QAS booklet.
@TestRekt
Do you have source to this information?
@marvin100
I thought they were planning on releasing the QAS’s on Khan Academy and on the future blue book editions.
EDIT: oh I see you are talking about the actual booklets.
@YoLolololol A College Board exec made the statement in a Facebook group for counselors.
Just wanted to bump this because, as of right now, no practice tests have been released.
Wow they have YET to release new practice tests.
So will the CB release new practice tests or just send the May QAS to the test takers? Where have they released information that says they may release more practice tests?
Who knows. I think everyone expected this test to be available by now. The CB appears to be flailing about.
They mentioned they will release it on Khan Academy and their website. But who knows at this point lol
It’s now August 16th… still no QAS in my mailbox… I hope CB’s getting some good interest off of the money we paid 5 months ago… I’m betting it’ll be post Labor Day before it comes. I’ll keep everyone posted here as well as on the main board.
August 21st and still no QAS
2 new practice tests have been added to Khan Academy. Don’t take the tests yet until the printable PDFs are out yet!
August 24th… no QAS… but there were some interesting advertisements for early Labor Day sales in my mailbox…
Yay! Is one of them the May QAS?
The May QAS is going to be a letdown at this point, since Practice Test 5 on Khan is basically the May exam. Test 6 is the school day administration from April. Supposedly College Board is going to make a habit of putting released tests on Khan. Takes away much of the value of the QAS – especially when Khan gets things first.
Well, it seems like the PDF is gonna take some time to be released. As for the QAS, I agree that QAS exams should be released to everyone because we should not limit access to released exams to those that have taken the exam. A solution to the problem, then, could be to lower the price of QAS or reduce the service to just a copy of responses. The booklet could be optional then.
