Hello next year will be my second year at UCF and I am looking to live off campus. At the moment my first choice is Pegasus Pointe, mainly because it is a lower price than a lot of the other places I have looked at.

I do have a few questions about it since it is campus affiliated. The first is do the monthly payments continue during breaks like a regular apartment or since it is affiliated with UCF does it shut down during breaks like when you live in a dorm? Also are males and females allowed to live in the same apartment like a regular apartment or is this not allowed because it is like a dorm only off campus?

Basically what I want to know is whether Pegasus Pointe is a regular apartment, or more similar to dorm life. What is the difference between a regular apartment and one that is campus affiliated?

Also if you have any other suggestions of places to check out, I am looking for something cheap and close to campus. I am not picky about what it looks like or anything like that.

If you can help me out I would appreciate it so much!

As far as I know, the only differences of being campus affiliated is that they may be slightly cheaper and that you can directly pay with financial aid money as if it was an on campus dorm. From my knowledge, apartments of any kind that are off campus, affiliated or not, you have to sign an annual lease. This means you won’t be forced out during breaks because you’re paying for a full year. As far as room mates of the opposite gender, that will have to be answered by someone who may have experience with that. I’m not really sure. From what I’ve seen, people only room with others of the same gender. But again, I really don’t know if it’s because it’s a rule like it is on campus or simply because the people that I met who live off campus simply chose to live that way. Just to avoid any confusion, campus affiliated apartments are not that different at all. However, as I’m sure you probably already know, you want to make sure you look for somewhere that is a student apartment community. Pegasus Pointe and Landing are the only 2 “campus affiliated” ones but there are plenty of other communites like Northgate, the Lofts, Jefferson Village, and Campus Crossing that are student only apartments. This is opposed to a regular apartment where anyone can live. The main benefit of student apartment communites is that it comes with an individual lease, meaning they charge you a monthly fee that doesn’t change, regardless of how many room mates you have. If you choose to live in a regular apartment and a room mate leaves, you still have to make up the total rent without them. Hope this helps!

Student apartments put you in with the same gender, like dorms.

Unlike dorms, you must sign an annual lease that cannot be broken. In turn, you will not be kicked out for breaks or anything like that.

I’d also say Pegasus Landing is better than Pointe. Much better shuttle service and a better location in my opinion.

Cheap and close to campus…there are plenty of student apartment complexes, mostly on Alafaya and a few on McCulloch. Northgate is from what I’ve seen one of the nicer ones but also more expensive. The rest are cheap and have varying degrees of issues. The campus affiliated ones seem to be better than a lot of the others since UCF has begun taking control of certain things.

I’d say either Northgate or Pegasus Landing.

u can have people of the opposite sex live with u in many places around the school as long as everyone in the apartment signs a consent form. I had the same question back when i was searching for an apartment. although im not sure about ones that are school affiliated. And if u have a choice dont go into peg pointe…a friend of mine has had their car broken into a number of times.

You can have mixed genders in the apartment, its just that all roomates must have a consent form signed.

I visited pegpointe a couple weeks ago and let me tell you. Yes, it is cheaper. Only by a little. However, since its cheaper it attracts “bad” people. You can tell in the atmosphere. You have to pay to park there in the apartments. And one of the two pools, which is the biggest, is being redone…so don’t plan on swimming in that one for a while. This is why I chose pegasus landing. It seems a lot nicer and cleaner. You dont have to pay to park there and the shuttle service is really good. I would rather pay a little more for better security. Oh, and I checked up on the UCF police reports and that place has almost half as much car break-ins than Pointe.

If you’re interested in a mix gender apartment, make sure to fill it up completely. They won’t match you up so its all up to you to find people. If you dont fill it, they will put in with the rest of the tenents and match you up with people of the same sex. Thats the problem my friend and I are having. We cant find a third roommate to fill a 3 bed, 3 bath apartment. Good luck! Hope you find a good place. Make sure to visit though!
