Quadruple Dorms

So it seems as a first year, I’ve been sentenced to a QUADRUPLE dorm in West Tower Court. Does anyone know how this is set up, exactly? Is there just one big room, or is there a common area with smaller rooms (I don’t believe this one, but that’s what my brother said was at his school)… This is basically my worst nightmare coming true

Floor plans should be available at:

My D was in a triple her first year in the Tower complex. It was a huge room with 2 closets. Everyone had their own bed, desk/chair, & bookshelf. It wasn’t crowded. I don’t know if the quadruple rooms are similar though.

@college_query Looks like it’s ONE room for four people. oh god. :(( I don’t get it. 336 is two separate doubles with a common room and 236 is just one big room?

My bad, EVERY other quad in the same location on each floor is set up like 336…

Tower Court is a great location, and you will likely enjoy being able to dine without venturing outside! Hopefully the room is large. My D graduated 2 years ago, and this past weekend she was visiting one of her randomly-assigned roommates from her first year triple (the other lives overseas).

My D just got a Quad in Munger, but she is super excited – she figures more opportunity to connect with someone instead of a chance that she ends up with one person she might not have connected with.

I went to Wellesley many moons ago. I can tell you that Tower Court West or TCW is a beautiful building. It is centrally located and therefore pretty popular. Mostly upperclassmen. As a freshman in TCW, you will get to know lots of different classes. It’s located near Lake Waban and is a quick walk to the boathouse if you want to row crew. When I was there, it was one of the most sought after and popular dorms. Cant help on the quad sitch. They had triples when I was there (a single and a double which shared a bathroom (unheard of!) Maybe they turned that into a quad? Those triples were on the link which connected TCW to TC East. Maybe if you ask, "Is the quad on the link? " You can get some insight. You are going to love it. Trust me!

so for freshman is a double not guaranteed. Are you saying that a freshman may get a triple or a quad…how do they deciede

Update: I’m moving out of this room. It is actual hell.

@Astrofeline is the problem the room or the roommates?

@apple23 Bit of both, roommates are awfully nice but terrible at not being noisy when I sleep… and there are 3… so nothing really went right…

Hopefully you will have a better situation in your new room/dorm.

@peteri I know exactly what rooms on “the link” you’re talking about, and no, the quad was not that. It was literally one room for four people. I’m not sure if you remember, but there were suites in the corners of each hall next to the kitchenettes (not on 1st floor), but the one on 2 west was just one big room for four. Loved Tower’s beauty and location I did NOT love sharing a room with 3 others… Now I live in Freeman

New dorms are the best! Lived in Bates every year and loved it.

@WendyWellesley13 Yeah, the new dorms may be kinda plain looking but they’re SO nice on the inside!

My daughter moved out of her Quad at xmas break - her roommate was impossibly loud at all hours of the night.

I am so sorry to hear of these situations! And so relieved my daughter never ended up in a quad. She would have hated that. Anxiety and sleep issues would have guaranteed her misery.

But surprisingly, she loved having a roommate her first two years, both in Dower. She’d never shared a room, so I wasn’t sure how it would go. but she said it was like having a sister.

Note to incoming first years: Dower is far from everything except the science building, so you will get great exercise going to class, and the room set-up is great. Two bedrooms (each with two beds) flank a shared study, which keeps noise down to a minimum at night. It’s the oldest dorm on campus and is very shabby, but is the ideal place for people who need quiet and space.

@Massmomm , when I was there it wasn’t ever a dorm! Wellesley has figured out how to pack in more students since then. Good for the bottom line, I suppose.

Yes, it was a 19th century storage building that was converted to a dorm in the late 70s or early 80s. It hasn’t been updated since.
