Qualifying as an In-state Resident in California

I just got my green card. My father has been a green card holder for quite a while now and resides in California. For proof
of his residence, I could show up the credit card statement. Since I just got my green card, do I qualify to be an instate resident through my father? Otherwise, what else can I do to qualify as an instate resident. I plan to attend college from fall - 2017.

You’ll need to do a lot more than show a credit card statement. You will have to submit a residency application to the college you intend to register at. They’ll want copies of tax returns, proof of residence etc.

Do you attend high school in California?

If you didn’t graduate from a California high school, it’s going to be tough. Becoming a permanent resident has to do with being allowed to live and work in the US. It has nothing to do with going to school in California.

Do you qualify under the Dream Act (AB 540)? You would need to have attended a California high school for at least 3 years.
