Which is better: getting one 5 on an AP exam or getting two 4's?

Depends on what colleges you plan on applying to/attending. If you’re aiming for one of the better schools, the single 5 would be much better; they look for quality. If you’re aiming for lower tier school or a state college, then the two 4s would be better; you get more credit and they don’t really care if it’s a 4 or 5.

That’s what I thought…For the Ivies, 4’s wouldn’t really make a difference right?

Are you self-studying? A 4 wouldn’t make much of a difference, but it’s still a slight positive; it’s better than nothing. Getting 5s on self-studies shows that you actually know your material, and as such is a much bigger plus (especially since some ivies don’t even give credit for 4s).

Yeah, I got a 5 on AP Physics last year, but my friend got two 4’s.
