There's an event called welcome week that fills in the gap from the 16th-24th. Basically, there will be a lot of events around campus and you'll get to see all of the organizations on campus. Trust me, there will be LOTS of FREE stuff that week. Don't miss out!

LOTS of pens, frisbees, keychains, highlighters, pencils, FOOD (pizza, crispy kreme, etc), pamphlets, etc. Heck, most of these things are still lying around in my room, especiallly the frisbees.

Personally I believed Welcome Week was a waste of time (met most of my friends at clubs and dorms anyway), and would recommend moving in a day or two before classes start. You'd avoid the move-in crowd as well.

You can still check out Welcome Week if you really want to. By the way, the mandatory "strategies for academic success" session the admins make you attend during Welcome Week isn't really mandatory, they don't take attendance anyway and the info is redundant.

That's an important point - you'll do well to explore the campus during that week. Me and my suitemates decided that the best way to explore the campus was to eat at a different dining hall every day, and that worked out nicely.

Yeah, I didn't really do a lot of welcome week stuff... But that week was very nice for getting to know the campus... I think I found every building that I would ever want to know about during those few days

yes, just an advice for all incoming students: FIND YOUR CLASSES BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS! Trust me, you don't want to get into that situation when you're frantically searching for your class when it starts in five mins.
