Quarter or Semester System?

If you guys and girls had the ability to implement a new system for the 09-10 year, which one would you use?

I'm curious to see the arguments.

most schools have semesters. I like being in line with most schools; it's convenient for family and friends.

not sure how quarter system works...

but i know cornell college (vs. the one in ithaca) makes students do 1 class at a time...

Quarter system is broken up into 3 systems. Instead of Fall and Spring, you have Fall, Winter, and Spring "semesters" in a sense.

[Academic quarter (year division - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academic_quarter_(year_division%5DAcademic">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academic_quarter_(year_division))</p>

So instead of taking 15 hours or so per semester, you divide it into 10 hours per quarter with less courses. From here, you get to have more classes in your over all stay, but you do more in less time in a sense.

Classes go by faster, 3 months for classes usually, break, and then start a new approach. You spend some more time in class as well.

It's something I'd like to give a shot at to be honest. The semester just seems to drag on and on and on.
