Queens vs Waterloo

hi..everyone..im inclined to major in economics finance or accouting for undergraduate program..but im having trouble in looking for schools.. Queens seems to only have economics rather than a more techinical separate major accounting..but i really love the school..also im worried whether the prospects for an undergraduate degree in applied economics will be good enough in canada..Waterloo has accounting and finance as an undergraduate major...will that be more useful in looking for a job..or is it that you still can try CFA test with a degree in applied economics...
in urgent need for help...thanks

Queens economics is very well regarded so rest assured the degree has value. I would believe that the Queens degree wouldn’t be a a barrier to becoming an accountant, however I suggest you phone the economics department in the university and ask them.

I am not sure where you get the idea that Queen’s does not offer an accounting degree:

It is based in the School of Business.

Queen’s has a more highly regarded (and extremely difficult to get into) business school (the best undergrad business program in Canada). It offers majors in accting or finance. Waterloo also has such programs but the business school isn’t as well known but they do offer interesting major combinations. Both would work find for a future in acct or fin.

You might want to choose based on culture. Here are two clips of each orientation. It gives you a real feel for the school differences (and my hunch is you’d prefer Waterloo):

Thanks guys! I have been working with my advisor and we have submitted materials to UBC, UT, Waterloo and Western Ontario… I still like the maths and finance program at Waterloo…but in terms of international reputation UBC is probably my ideal choice…now im kinda just waiting to hear from the result of Dartmouth ED
