I am now applying thru Questbridge and am not sure if I shall be the finalist. I got a 31 in ACT and my financial environment does put me in need. I know that it is pretty hard to apply to the very top colleges.
I am not quite sure about the ranking stuff. It says Yale, MIT, Stanford, and Princeton are non-binding. So, if I put these four in the first four places, will that be a good technique? If I put like 12 colleges in rank after that, can I still apply to other colleges thru Common App Regular Decision?
Please clarify my puzzles!!
I’m not sure what you mean by a “good technique”. Those four are non-binding, which means if you get matched with one of them, you are not required to accept. However, everything else is the same: you only get matched to one college, regardless of whether or not it is binding. If those 4 are your favorites, feel free to rank them first, but being non-binding doesn’t give you any admissions advantage (other than the ability to choose whether or not you are going to attend). You can apply to other colleges (or the same ones again) through regular decision if you do not get matched or if you get matched with a school that is non-binding. Hope this answered your question!
