Questbridge College Prep Scholarship 2015 Applicant Thread

Hey all!
I think that with February quickly approaching, we juniors can start to discuss the application and ask questions here. I looked around and didn’t find a thread for 2015 yet. Good luck to everyone!

Do you know what obtaining a scholarship in this program entails? A lot of people said they’ve gotten a scholarship, but for what? I’d like to get into a summer program through this, since most of the free ones like TASP and RSI all have their application process closed now. I had no idea the application process began so early! If you know of any other free summer programs, let me know. Thanks!

I’m no expert, since I’m only a junior planning on applying through this program. But if you look on the site, there are a few pre college programs, but the Questbridge people usually recommend applying to those programs yourself first since the Questbridge scholarship for them are very competitive! There are also free college visits, attendance to a conference, and telementoring available. That’s my understanding, but I’m sure we’ll gain more knowledge about these as the application opens up, though.
Best of luck!

going to be applying!

Does anyone know when the application is supposed to open up? The site says sometime in February and the deadline is late March, but I’ve been checking every day and there’s nothing!

@Anitomy I received an email from QB last week informing me that the application would open up sometime this week. I subscribed to the mailing list fyi.

@anitomy‌ the email i got from qb last week said the application is due march 25th

Is the application open yet?

@ziambix Yes. You can click on “Access My Application” at the top right of the website and start a new application.

Application is open until deadline March 25.

When do we find out if we’re accepted?

^^Early May

I have a question about one of the prompts. When they ask “What are your career goals and how did you develop them?”, does it mean how I became interested in them or how I worked towards those goals (summer program, clubs, etc)? Thanks!!

I would take that more as how you became interested in them. If anyone has a better idea, I’m wondering as well.

I wrote about how I became interested. “I became interesting in medicine because this happened.” But if summer programs or clubs planted the seed to your interest its probably fine.

It’s*

On the application, I noticed that it asks you to list any honors you have received during high school. I’m not sure my school does “honors”, so I don’t really know what an honor is. I’ve tried to look it up but all I’m getting is that it means you have good grades.
Is it talking about National Honor Society or anything like that?

Just a reminder to everyone that the deadline is Tomorrow (March 25th) at 11:59 Pacific Time! Good luck to everyone applying

My teacher forgot that she had to write a letter of rec for me smh :)>-

@Swinter‌ You can still submit the application without the recommendation, recommenders have until around March 30th to get their letter in.
