I’m not sure. No, I looked at the actual summer science program website. I went to admissions–> your application and then logged into my account.
Around 2 hours later, a representative from Questbridge called me and said that I got in, and that they’d need my tax documents to verify info!
@juan03233 Thanks! I didn’t apply through the SSP portal though :///. Were we supposed to? I only applied through the Questbridge STEM awards section.
@chknlover No, I didn’t apply through the portal either. However, I think questbridge forwarded the apps to them (and I had an account, since you had to fill out some page as part of some of the requirements).
Aw okay. I applied to the Astrophysics one, but my account says Biochemistry? I think there’s something wrong. @juan03233
@chknlover I’m not sure? I applied to biochem and it was correct for me
Decision:Prep Scholar
Objective:
[ul][] SAT I (breakdown): 1420 (Took after Application deadline so didn’t submit)
[] PSAT: 1390 (1250 Sophomore year which I also submitted)
[] ACT: 32 (Took after application deadline so didn’t submit)
[] SAT II: Math 2-690 Literature-580 (I got destroyed lol)
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.92
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 14/57
[] AP (place score in parenthesis): N/A
[] IB (place score in parenthesis): N/A

[/ul]Subjective:
[li] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Table Top Games Club (Representative 9-10, President 11-12), MESA, Culture Club, Academic Decathlon[/li][ul][li] Job/Work Experience: AVID Tutor[/li][] Volunteer/Community service: Volunteer about an hour per week at my elementary or middle school. Have close to 100 hours in the past 3 years.
[] Summer Activities: Have taken and will take college classes at my local community college.
[] Essays: My essays and short answers were straight trash because I procrastinated on them.
Proudest achievement: 5/10 Talked about how a girl said yes to go to prom with me in Sophomore year. What was I thinking?
Event that changed your way of thinking: 6/10 Slightly better but still cringey. Talked about how my crush not wanting to be friends with me changed my view on life and people.
Change in your community: 5/10 Couldn’t think of anything so did the generic lower crime. I did mention something about changing people’s perception to improve my community. Didn’t like it. I do live in a top ten worst city in the nation so maybe that could work in my favor.
Biographical essay: 6/10 Did this on the last day. Spent 6 whole hours on it so I guess it was pretty genuine (poured my heart into it). I didn’t proofread or have anyone read it though. One big con was that it wasn’t really cohesive because I just blurted out random events and facts about me while relating those to myself, my views, my personality, and my life.
Awards essays: 4/10 Also procrastinated on these. Sounded generic and were poorly written.
[] Teacher Recommendation: 7/10 I read it. One page generic letter. First two paragraphs were just the normal nice things you say about a student (Personalized to me of course). Rest of it was just my resume blurted on the page.
[/ul]Other
[ul][] State (if domestic applicant): CA
[] Country (if international applicant):US
[] School Type: Public school. My school is a “Middle College” school that allows us to take college classes at our local community college at the same time as our regular high school classes. It is very selective with an application and interview process. Small population of 240 students. Sadly we don’t have any AP classes though because the administration thought it would be too hard on us.
[] Ethnicity: Vietnamese
[] Gender: Male
[]Income Bracket: <20,000
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): First generation, disability, unique home situation
[/ul]Reflection
[ul][] Strengths: PSAT, Work experience, community service,
[] Weaknesses: Class rank, Short answers, extracurriculars, SAT II, Essays
[] Why you think you were accepted/rejected: Uh I think I fit Questbridge’s criteria for an ideal candidate. I’m a low income but academically high achieving student. I think my stats are trash though in comparison to a lot of other scholars… Honestly, even though I thought my essay was pretty terrible, I did show them the kind of person I was and explained my life very well.
[] Where else were you accepted/rejected: Didn’t apply anywhere else.
[/ul]General Comments: Never thought I would get accepted. I’m grateful for this opportunity and hope to make the best of it. It’s been a dream of mine since starting high school to get into a top university. I want to make my parents proud and do something with my life. Sorry to those who got rejected but there’s always next time. Don’t let this bring you down! Oh feel free to leave any comments and questions pertaining to myself. I love making new friends!
@icametokill2o9 Congrats bud! =D>
DID ANYONE GET ANY NOTIFICATION ABOUT SUMMER PROGRAMS YET? Besides SSP?
I want to make sure I’m not missing out! Also, will they send you an email of rejection if you get rejected or do they not send you an email at all?
No, haven’t heard anything yet. They said the programs would be heard from by mid May. So we still got around 3 weeks of waiting
@juan03233
Does it tell you whether or not your application was complete. Because I filled out the first Page and nothing else, but it doesn’t indicate it’s complete or that they have any of my things. I’m gonna send an email to see if they got my Quest stuff.
Anyone know the RSVP deadline for the YALE Conference?
@Southern5062 May 23rd. I emailed QB this and it took them a few days to respond. Were you invited to this one?
@astrocosmos1 I am on the waitlist. I was invited to the Emory Conference but i am starting a summer program with Brown Univ that day (June 24). So I can’t go to Emory but really really want to attend the one at Yale!
@astrocosmos1 FYI - That was my answer above about the Yale conference (Southern 5062) . Didn’t realize that my computer had signed me in under my sister’s old account automatically. Sorry!
@Justabean247 I got a call from a Questbridge representative letting me know I got in.
Hi, I’m also selected as Prep Scholar this year. I am wondering how much chance I have for the summer programs (which was my aim to begin with). I applied for everything I could. I heard that there were about 3000 or so students selected this time as Prep Scholar. How many of them get invited to attend summer programs? If anybody knows, please let me know because I’m very curious. 3000 is a lot …
@juan03233 did you get into a summer program? Congrats! I thought we had to wait until mid May… I certainly haven’t received any calls so I guess maybe those who aren’t selected will be let known around that time, if they are contacting those who selected via phone?
Hey, guys, just to let you know, U of Chicago releases their info around this time as well! So has anyone whip applied for their summer program know yet?
@juan03233 which summer program did you get accepted to? and did they give you a scholarship?
@tooksattoday1 I got into the SSP for Biochem. Yep, thankfully I got a full scholarship!
