Once my son submitted the QB app, he couldn’t change it. For RD through QB, it depends on the college whether they require the common app and their supplement in addition to the QB app. Most colleges that require the common app say that you are encouraged to re-use your QB essays, but obviously you can enter whatever essays you choose when you do the common app. (My son reused his QB essays.)

Here’s the link to check college RD requirements. [Regular Decision Requirements](QuestBridge)

If you rank a college that requires you to submit the common app with their university’s supplement, can you reuse your essays if they fit the prompt?

I have a question about QB application process vs. RD.

If I’m thinking of applying to schools like Yale, Columbia and UPenn, applying through which method would provide a higher chance of being accepting to these top colleges? I know that the QB schools only have a limited number of QB scholarship they can give out; considering that, would it be more advantageous to apply to one of these schools RD or through QB?

@ queensny since they said August I’m sure it will be coming soon now that it is the first day of that month.

OMG I know my chances are nearly 0 for the scholarship and maybe 2 percent for finalist but I’m still doing it. Glad I got the SAT 2’s out of the way but the fact that I didn’t take an ACT somewhat bugs me (isn’t it too late to sign up now?) and my SAT 1 scores haven’t been so hot T.T At least College Prep Scholarship information will be transferred to the National College Match so that I can just focus mainly on the essays. Was anyone here an applicant for College Prep Scholarship back in march?

@turtle0423: I was! I was also invited to Yale for the conference; it was a ton of fun.

I haven’t taken the ACT either, but I signed up for the September date. If anything, I’ll just rush my score report and/or beg them to allow me to send it to them after the deadline, Sept. 30. I’m hoping on being a finalist just with my other scores, EC’s, and essays, but I’m not applying to the Match program and intend to use my ACT score for help in RD.

Hi! I have a question about being matched to the partner schools. I know that Yale will only match you if your EFC is 0, and I was wondering what other schools did that? I’d very much like to go to Yale, but I don’t think my EFC is 0, so I will probably have to apply RD for Yale if I do not get matched with any schools I am ranking. Thanks in advance!

I am applying for the QuestBridge College Match program this fall! Do you think it is best to submit SAT and ACT scores directly to the schools we are interested in applying to, instead of submitting them to QuestBridge first? Because we find out on October 21, 2011 if we are selected as finalists, and all the application materials are due by November 1, 2011, so that probably isn’t enough time for scores to reach the schools.

Also, should we submit our transcripts and recommendations directly to the schools as well so we are not rushed between that 10-day window (if we are selected as finalists, of course)?

QB does not require you send them “official” scores through College Board (they’ll take copies of your score reports). The colleges do require official SAT reports, transcripts, and other materials, by Nov. 1st to be considered for a Match. If you check the QB site, the College Match requirements for each college note that “It is ** highly recommended ** that you begin this process in early October.”

So, you should send your SAT reports (and other material) as soon as you’re sure which colleges you will be applying to for the Match. Check the requirements for each college to see what you need to send here on the QB Match requirements page: [College Match Requirements for Finalists](QuestBridge)

But what if I am not selected as finalist? Should I spend money on sending scores to a college that will not look at me because I am not a finalist?

Can we send our transcripts now, since they are ready and that way we don’t have to worry about that in October?

Even if you’re not a QB finalist, you can still apply to the colleges of your interest as a regular applicant through EA, ED or RD. Transcripts sent to the college now will be kept on file for you when you apply later on.

The application normally opens some time in August.

So nothing happens if we send our transcript to a school and then end up not applying? I want to go ahead and send my stuff now to the schools on my list, but something may change down the road and I may end up not applying to some schools.

As was mentioned, you can apply to QB schools without finalist status, and as far as I know, there’s no problem with sending materials to colleges. If you decide not to complete your application, you won’t be considered for admission and they’ll close your file (although my son had a few schools send him emails encouraging him to complete their apps). Obviously, it would be good to be pretty sure of your list before paying for score reports.

@butters
Yes, QB app due 9/30, Common App (for the schools that require it) and other supporting matrrials due 11/1

When do we start filling out the CSS Profile? Some QB colleges require that by November 1 if we are selected as finalists and are applying to their schools.
